Exclamation Question for anyone with Escort Radar detectors

I purchased an Escort 8500 X50 with the hard-wire optional kit (which has alert lights and a "Mute" button). So, obviously, I want to hard-wire my detector into my TL.

My question is: Where?

Have you had good luck / bad luck with your installation that you can share, or anything that you would recommend (or recommend not doing) about your installation?

Note: I'm going to let Best Buy install it for around $30.

Pretty easy job.. if you have a fair amount of knowledge about cars, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. The only thing you are going to have to be careful with is taking off the pillars (people usually break the courtesy-tabs that holds the pillars in place). Good luck!

I don't know how loud the Bel RX 65 is, since I've never heard one.

The 8500 X50 is very easy to hear. I have the volume dial up around 70%, and it's plenty loud for me, with the radio up around 20 (occasionally).

For what it's worth, my Escort will be delivered tomorrow and I'm planning on having Best Buy install it also. A friend had his detector hard wired there and had no complaints.

I got the hard wire thru Best Buy and they did a excellent job. It took just under one hour to do the job. God knows how long it would have taken me.
Well worth the money. Very clean look
