Question about the v551...please help

Hey guys, I just got the V551 yesterday and I read some stuff on this forum about how the bluetooth automatically turns on and off when you go in and out of the car. Right now my bluetooth connection turns on and off automatically when I go in and out of the car, but when I check the phone when I'm out of the car, it says the bluetooth power is on. Is the bluetooth power suppose to be on the whole time?? Thanks!

Yes, the BT power can remain 'on' but will seriously affect the battery life forcing frequent recharging. A tip I picked up here is to create a shortcut for the 'power on' and 'power off' functions for the times you're away from the car for a significant period of time.

If creating a shortcut is similar to the V710, here are the steps. BTW, this was on a thread and I don't remember who the original poster was. Made a copy for my reference. It works ......

2. 7 - Setup
3. * - Connection
4. 1 - Bluetooth Link
5. Setup (Select)
6. Power (Change)
7. Scroll down to "Off"
8. Hold then Menu button down and create a shortcut...I used "1"

Follow the same steps as above (1 through 6) and then:

7. Scroll down to "On"
8 Hold the Menu button down and create a shortcut...I used "2"

Henceforth, "OK" + 1 turns Bluetooth off in a single step
"OK" + 2 turns Bluetooth on in a single step
