Cool Question about subwoofer

hi
i have a question would like to ask you guys!!
first of all i wanna do a subwoofer mod to my 3G TL; there are two choices but i can't decide, so i need all of your input!! (i would like to have my trunk space available when i need it, so heavy mod won't be necessary even though i like some of your guys' setup!!)
the first choice is use Alpine PLV-7 which is pre-amp subwoofer, and here is the info on that subwoofer Click me. which i think is pretty good coz as my understanding it can be unplug when i need the space, but the size of this subwoofer is not big enough to fit perfectly in the trunk, which may cause the sub slide if under a sharp turn!!
second choice is a custom box with either two 10" or 12" subwoofer and an amp mounted on the back of the box. This box was previously used on a 3G TL as well, but this guy needed his trunk space so he wants to sell it for $400 but brand is unknown; it should perfectly fit inside of the trunk. I think this subwoofer can also take out if i need the space!!
so which one i should use??
thanks

get some velcro. The kind with the sticky tape on one side. Stick the hard plastic side to the bottom of the box. It will stick right to the carpet in the back and won't move at all. I did this in my last car. Worked like a charm!

I mounted my sub amp on top of the sub enclosure box. I screwed in some eye screws into the back and then bungied the whole thing to the diagonal rear seat brace. I put the amp for the door/rear deck speakers under the driver's seat. So I have a fully amped setup but takes zero trunk space if I remove the sub.

Exclamation

here is the question about my sub-woofer setup!! I don't know why when i turn off my car and luck it with my remote; my sub-woofer start to making loud base noise (key is not in ignition so the sub-woofer shouldn't drain any juice from the battery). I can only to make that noise go away by turning on the car and shut it off again. So is there something i did wrong or something that i didn't do to make that noise? any input is welcome!!
BTW i got the Alpine PLV-7 to be my choice!! (this info might help you to answer my question)

thanks
Steven

Hmm, hard to say without knowing how it's hooked up but it sounds like it's not getting turned off by the remote line. Maybe after you lock the door it's picking up some electrical interference from the security system? So, how did you run your power line and where did you tap in for your remote turn on?

well i connected direct from the battery, and there is no "remote turn on thingy" in that setup. could it cause by direct connect to the battery without any terminal to cut off power after the car shuts off?? and do you know what may cause the electrical interference??

btw thanks for the reply

No Problem

Well, i looked at the specs of the Alpine and it says it has Auto ON Circuit (Signal Detection). So, i'm assuming it turns on only when it detects a signal coming down the speaker line. So, I guess in theory, if there was some kind of electrical interference coming through the speaker wire and it was strong enough to trigger the auto on circuitry, it would cut it on and you would then hear the noise. What would be causing this though, i'm not really sure...have to think about what electrical runs in the car while it's off...

does the alarm signal strong enough to trigger that auto on circuitry. if so, anything i can do to prevent that happen (because most of time the sub-woofer starts to make base noise is when i use remote to lock my car, so i assume that caused the sub-woofer to turn on itself.)
