Question about PS2 and DVD stuff.

I was wanting to put a DVD player and PS2 into the car and I have a few questiong for some of you more experienced modders:

1. Where the heck does the dvd player and PS2 draw power from? Does Dom's or NAV2Go have a 120V jack?

2. I remember seeing a thread where someone fabricated a DVD button from a modded VSA button. Is there anyone out there that will do this for me if I pay them?

3. I've been looking at some of the FAQs, but I still don't quite understand how the systems work to input to the factory Nav unit. Where does this unit sit once it's set up (Trunk, etc?). What are the differences between the units?

4. I've noticed that a lot of the people with DVD players have what looks like a computer DVD drive - is that really what it is or is it just a really tiny DVD player??? And... do these drives support VCD, DivX, etc?

Thanks!

Pika,

I have a PS2 Slim installed in my glove compartment, and I use the Intec Car Adapter to get power.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4183750

I decided not to hardwire the PS2 to the car so that I can easily remove the contents in case I wanted to sell the car.

Hope this helps...let me know if you want pictures of my setup.

Thanks MoHaWk!!!

That's awesome.. I didn't realize that people were hardwiring - that's something I definitely don't want to do.

Pics would be awesome!

Here you go gentlemen (and possible ladies)! My setup...

There are two wires there. One is for the Intec power cord for the PS2 and the other is my USASpec iPod wire that runs to the top part of the center compartment where my iPod is.

As you can see, my PS2 barely clears when opening and shutting the glove compartment. I did not have to cut any holes in the back of the compartment, so it'll look better if I decide to sell the car.

Here are two more pics just for fun.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Also, as you can see, I put the switch for the TVandNav2Go unit in the center console for a more stealth look. Hope you all like it!

let me know if you're still looking for the VSA switch to be made, i can either help you or make one for you either way. here is a pic of the one i made, the lines arent sharp since i used a dull exacto, but i can make you one ready for whatever logo you want and paint
edit: this was a hack job, i used auto primer rattlecan since i had it handy. another member used testors flat black and an airbrush and it turned out much much closer on his setup

san jose. it'd cost about $20 or so shipped, minus painting. i am not 100% satisfied with the job i did myself, since i cut the playstation logo from the ps2 manual, and taped it onto a sticker and recut it. i can make you one ready for whatever logo you want and paint if you dont mind

triton3k, Pika817, MoHaWk2003:

I am aware that you are interested in having kataklyzm fabricate a DVD switch (similar to DCC's VSA mod) for you. We do have rules for members trying to sell products/goods on here, but I am fine with it since it is such a small amount and it is basically one member helping another. This is fine as long as this doesn't get advertised.

kataklyzm: If you intend to make this a business venture, I suggest you contact Astro on becoming a vendor.

Therefore I have deleted your posts in the PS2 thread. Please continue your discussions through PM.

Thanks.
