Question about playing discs, please help

Hi I have a Non Navi and here is a quote from the manual that confuses me:

To select a different disc when all six positions are loaded, use the preset 5 (DISC -) or preset 6 (DISC +) button. Otherwise, press the corresponding number on the preset buttons or icons.
Okay, I understand when I have 6 discs inside I can switch to any of the discs by pressing one of the 6 buttons. But what do they mean by the "DISC -" and "DISC +" buttons? Actually I don't even know what those do/mean. They are also marked as the "5" and "6" preset buttons, so I'm understanding I can press them to switch to disc 5 or 6. But what the heck is "DISC -" and "DISC +" for?

Please help. Thanks.

Wow. It's been a while since this one was asked. All of these comments apply to the TAPE/DISC mode of the stereo.

The manual isn't quite correct. When a cassette tape is loaded, the 1-4 buttons control the tape deck. In that case, using 5 (disc-) and 6 (disc+) control the changer. When no tape is loaded, the 1-6 buttons direct select the discs in the changer.
