PXAMG/iSimple 778b Firmware

Hello forum - I just noticed that Pac-Audio released a new firmware for their PXAMG/iSimple iPod module. The version is 778b and is available here. The release notes say that it adds 2010 & 2011 applications & improves general functionality.

I have a 2005 TL with the new PXAMG-IC jumper installed to support iOS4. Everything works relatively well with my .38 firmware, so I wanted to check if anyone updated to the 778b firmware before I break any fuctionality.

Can anyone report back with a review? Please list your iPhone and iOS versions and let me know if it helps the overall performance of the PXAMG.

Thanks!

I wouldn't haha. I'm on 778b and it often doesn't recognize the xm1 and xm2 channels until it initializes, which can be anywhere from 2-30 minutes.

I noticed that if I start the car without my ipod touch connected, it boots up pretty much every time within a minute.

i noticed the same as Bucks did. Thats why I reverted back to .38 firmware.

usually a new firmware will "fix" bugs but, they seem to have bugs in all their updates.
I'm not sure what kind of QA these guys perform on their products but, IMO its sub par.

I have to agree with the "quality" of their QA haha.

So you aren't having these problems on .38? If not, where can I download (if I can) the .38 firmware?

I would send a note to Pac-Audio's tech support. They are usually pretty responsive and can get you the .38 firmware.

I asked my initial question to them, also, and they replied that there were no changes/added functionality to warrant the need for me to update my firmware.

Thanks for the info, I'll send them an email and see what I get.

This is a bit off topic, but what does the new jumper do? I have an iPhone 4. and it seems to work just fine without it.

It shows the text and all, but it does show some notification on the phone when i plug it in that you can close.

Only problem I have is that it doesn't charge, but changing the cable to the 5v one fixes this correct?

@xxbiggie - You'll need the 5v cable to charge your phone. Do a search for PXAMG-IC on this site and you'll find a few discussions. Some members had issues with iOS4 without the new "authentication chip." Others say that its works fine.

My advice: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Aright. In that case, I'll get a 5v cable and hope it doesnt change anything but charge my iphone.

Broke with iPhone 4

I hadn't upgraded since I installed in March 2009. Just upgraded my firmware, and now when I have my iPhone 4 plugged in, it plays from the phone's speaker. (Both iPod and Aux1 mode.) My iPod Nano 2G works correctly. I'm going to downgrade to 38...
