In my 05 tl do I need to get an after market radio before putting in a system??

I'm going to go out on a real short limb and guess you didn't search before you asked that question.

I'm also going to give a real short answer.

You can add a 4-ch amp for the 4 main speakers.
If so- get an amp with Hi-level inputs.
Leave the center speaker + OEM amp as is.
If you want a bigger subwoofer- also buy
a mono sub amp with Hi-level inputs and a
12" single sub in a sealed small box-3/4" MDF.
Call Cruthfield if you don't undertand me.

Audio will be important upgrade.

 

U don't need hi level inputs. Your best bet is to find someone that knows how to solder wire leads onto rca's (unless u can). Then tap into the wiring before the amp. A good majority of 3rd gen tl get a hum from the factory amp going bad and you can avoid that by tapping in pre amp and just run rca to the amp. You get better sound anyway
