Exclamation Problem with AUX input jack

Ok, so I don't have an IPOD, but I have one of those Sony 2GB MP3 players that is really cool. However, I cannot get it to work in my '08 TL through the Aux jack in the center console. I used the proper stereo cable and the AUX comes up on the Navi screen, but I get NO AUDIO. If I turn it ALL the way up (on the player and the car) I can hear very faint audio - definitely not even worth it. I can't imagine what the problem can be.

Does anyone else have this problem with other MP3 players or is there a solution? Something stupid I'm missing?

Thanks in advance.

i take it that if you use headphones on your mp3 player the sound level is fine? If this is the case then it could only be one of 3 possible issues: 1. the male to male 3.5mm cable is bad or 2. the car's aux jack is bad or 3. you did not connect the cable all the way into the jack. Depending on where you got your cable from, i'm going to assume that your issue is number 3. Try pushing the connector at the end of the cable all the way into the aux jack on the car - this should solve your problem. If it does not, then it is definitely the wire - must just be a crappy cable, buy a new one.

I'm pretty sure it's not the car's AUX jack, but you can always verify this by trying a different mp3 player and cable. If the jack is bad, no worries just go to the dealer and get it fixed under warranty.

let us know what happens.

Also make sure the cable is plugged into the player all the way. Is the cable stereo or mono?

Is this cable a RCA male / male cable?

I think it's 07 and 08. And I confirmed yesterday it is an RCA / RCA connection.
