Power tap?

I'm looking to put some DC powered devices under the rear windshield (radar detector and GPS device in case you're curious). Where's the best place to tap a 12VDC line? Minimal panel removals are preferred. Thanks.

The fusebox is on the left of the driver's footwell. You can tap in to a switched circuit there.

That's nowhere near the rear windshield! Is there anything in the trunk maybe that I could somehow fish in the cabin (perhaps through the ski-thingie)?

Curious why you are mounting a radar detector in the rear?

Less clutter on the dash. I figure, if I can put everything in the rear, I'd rather do that.

Oh, and BTW, the GPS device is a bluetooth device that will actually talk to the aftermarket navigation system that will be on the front dash.

I searched this forum for this very info and came up with a number of posts such as this, but no answers. So I whipped out the DVM and found a switched 12V source in the trunk.

There are three connectors on the back of the GPS, the one you are looking for is a rectangular green connector towards the bottom, it will be the lowest of the three when the unit is mounted. The Yellow/Red Striped wire is the one you want, it is also the only Yellow/Red Striped wire going to the GPS unit so this will elminate having to figure out exactly which connector to look at. Right next to it is a constant 12V supply, so you have your choise of either and I have been able so far to power Dom's RGB converter from the switched 12V line (ylw/red strp.) with no problems, eliminating the 24/7 trunk heater effect when the unit stays on....alll...the....freakin....time.....

Hope this helps someone. For future searches: Trunk; switched; power; 12; 12V; ACC; tap.

I guess tgpaul doesn't have Navi if he is installing a bluetooth gps.
You can try to get a power off the XM receiver, located behing the panel on right side of the trunk.
