Possible "workaround" for using v710 phone directory in TL
Since I have never used a bluetooth phone in my TL, and don't yet have the v710, I'm not sure this would work, but I think it should...
If you want to be able to use your entire v710 phone directory in the TL, couldn't you just do the following:
--Initiate a call on the v710 by pressing the button (on the phone) that starts the voice-dialing procedure, and then voicedial the number from the v710s directory
--Immediately transfer the (not yet connected) call to the HFL system
It would seem that by doing this you would only need to press one button on the phone, which is not that big of a deal. It's certainly less of a distraction from driving than, say, looking up a phone number in the phone's directory would be.
Anyway...just an idea.

Absolutely it does work like that. However, you'll have to transfer the call everytime after voice dialing. Also, you do not need to hurry to transfer before connecting, you can also transfer mid call. However, this process requires you to handle phone and have it avialable. If the number is in TL directory you can even keep the phone in the trunk or pocket or anywhere close for that matter.
Workaround for non-bluetooth phones?
I just got my TL a couple of weeks ago and love it, but I've been unsuccessful in finding a Bluetooth phone that will work in my area and also does a few other things that I need. Now I'm starting to wonder if bluetooth is even necessary. Bluetooth is just a substitute for a cord between the TL's voice activated dialer and the telephone, right? So, is there some cord that could connect my phone to the HFL and bypass the bluetooth altogether? The thing is, I still want to use the controls on the steering wheel for everything--just stick the phone in the center console and forget about it. Or am I an idiot, and this is what car phone/stereo places do all the time?

Also BT is just type of short range wired network and can do more once connected to HFL. There is no way you can connect your phone with a cord to HFL.
More Bluetooth Workaround Stuff
No, I'm on US Cellular and they don't have any Bluetooth phones. I've tried to find another provider who offers Bluetooth, but the coverage for those phones isn't sufficient for my area because of the type of network they use.
I don't think I explained myself well. I understand (hopefully correctly) that there are two "wireless" transmissions going on during a call, one between me and the TL's HFL system (using sound--it hears me and I hear it), and one between the HFL system and the phone (using Bluetooth). What I want to do is somehow hack into the TL's HFL system to bypass just the Bluetooth communication and have that communication (the HFL talking with the phone and vice versa) happen over a wire. So you're saying it's not possible to break into the HFL system and just cut off the bluetooth?
Finally, just curious, but what do you mean when you say "Also BT is just type of short range wired network and can do more once connected to HFL"? Are there capabilities beyond making and receiving phone calls using VR?

Hey WI and NY
I've used my phone many times in the Madison and Trempeleau counties of WI.
none of these times were using the Acura, but they've all been on my verizon account.
Also what does your cell phone need to do in Whitewater, that any cell phone doesn't already do.... unless you need a cell phone that'll keep your beer cold?
I don't know of any combo-cellphone-beercoozies..... But i'll be that the kids at UWWhitewater have 'em, if they exist.

You speak and a microphone in the TL picks up the sounds you make. The car's speakers produce the sounds made by the other people of the phone call.
Bluetooth does the following things: sends dialing information to the phone, sends your voice which the microphone picked up to the phone, notification that a call is coming in, receives the other person's voice, some phones send the caller ID phone number, battery levels and signal strengths to the car's display too. But that seems to be an optional thing under the Hands Free Link profile specification.
Your phone still does the actual transmitting and receiving of the cellular signals themselves. You don't get to use the car's antenna or anything like that.
