I just bought a stealth cord from ebay for $8. It comes with instructions, but there is not plug that goes into the mirror that's visible? Has anyone else done this?

not exactly answering your question, just breaking the silence

don't know about other detectors, but escorts use standard telephone plug for power

you can get a long extension, tuck it behind the headliner and pillar trim and have it end up anywhere in the car, like inside the center console for example where you can then use the outlet and the stock radar cord

The reason why I want to wire it to the mirror is so I have another outlet free for use. Right now with it plugged into the outlet, the cable is hanging down from
the top of the windshield. I don't think the wire stretches enough to hide it through the pillar and headliner either.

i actually meant the armrest compartment
more reason to go with a long telephone cable
i've also put a Y splitter inside there, so the jack is still available
and the stock cable is just piled up in there
