For a while a check disc error was coming up on my screen. Some1 suggested to me to unhook the battery wait about an hour and let the system reboot. Did that now when I turn my car on ..it says loading software for a min then it just says check your disc. Now I can't use the screen for anything such as radio controls or anything else..as before a could just no navigation. Does any1 know how or if I could go back to at least radio controls?

One reason why i got my TL without Navi because the same thing happened to my Accord =/. You might as well take it to Acura dude.

my car did showed the same error, but corrected itself after I turned the car off and started it up again. Happened again 2 times since the first incidence. This happened in the last 5 months. I was ready to just take the dvd out of the trunk and clean it. I dont know if that would help, but it is a thought. Our cars are both 04's.

try cleaning the disk; sometimes even ejecting it helps the unit figure out it's own issues. If that doesn't help, you can try a disk that cleans the laser to see if it helps. If not, you can send it in to alpine for 190 dollars and they will fix anything and everything wrong with it! Beats having to pay 3+K for a new one!

Second the Alpine recommendation. Definitely beat the stealership's price. Quick turn around too. I had the Navi Alzheimers issue and fixed it right up. Now just need to hack it.

I was dealing with the same problem and was about to send it to alpine to get it fixed. Someone told me about cleaning the lens so I gave it a try , I went to RadioShack and bought a DVD lens cleaner. After a minute I put the nav DVD and it worked !! You should give it a try it worked for me and saved $180

I was able to use radio controls on mine but my nav was having issues.my disc looked good no scratches.then i had to get a new battery and now i just get a black screen and please check disc msg.cant even use the screen for radio controls or nothing now.i bought a cd/dvd lense cleaner disc put it in and the screen tried uploading and 2 sec. Later i get the same msg.i dont get it grrr. I was atleast able to have radio controls before my battery died and i put in a new one..help please
