Place Names Search Bug?

In the Nav system, we have the choice of finding a location by "Place Name".
Why does it not show the matches closest to our location?
Is this a bug? Anyone else seen this or have a fix?

For example: I know there is a "Scrub-A-Dub" car wash 2 towns away, but I don't know the address. I enter Scrub-A-Dub and it finds all the matches and lists the one in Michigan first and Georgia second. I am in Boston, so that's no help...

A timeless and endlessley repeated question for which there is no answer. This question, whenever it rears it's ugly head, only evokes the ire and sympathy of fellow TL drivers.

The best course of action is to search "2300 McDonalds Away".

you need to be a little more specific

and never do a search by name, it is extremely ..."messed up"?

best bet is to google before attempting to use the navi just to double check.

granted, Acura should use On Star and they could always just download the location for you lol (my friend's Escalade does that)

The problem may not be a "bug," but a data input error on the part of the database people-- if they misspell the name or fail to include it in the category, it won't show up. You will see this with Starbucks locations- Starbucks is listed many ways: with and without apostrophe, as "Starbucks coffee," and a bunch of other ways- it's a data input/human error.
And is that MacDonalds, MacDonald's, McDonalds, or McDonald's?

With most businesses, I limit the search with "Category," then "place name" (unless the name is unique) or "distance" if searching for the closest one. OTOH, I did that last week for a BofA branch-- which turned out to have closed and relocated 3 blocks away on the other side of the street.
