I wonder what is the difference between the PA11-HON2Y and the CAS-HON2Y + PA11-HON2?

The difference is the HON2Y has the builtin Y cable and upgraded firmware to fix the compatibility bugs other people were seeing with 3G tls (and maybe other hondas)

Ok, I need some help. I recently purchased one of doms unit (i should receive it on friday) to view the dvd on the nav. Now the question is, in order to have the audio ran to my factory unit, what would i need. Would the USA Spec PA11-HON2Y be good to run the audio from dvd to the OEM unit, or is it only for ipods. If thats the case then what else is there to have the audio ran from my dvd player.
Thanks

hi, i know USA Spec PA11-HON2 has problem displaying track information on navi screen.
has USA Spec PA11-HON2Y fixed that problem with the new firmware? or this product was never designed to display track information. thanks

This product in NO way displays any ipod info on the Navi or upper display. All you see in the upper display is CDC(1-5) and Tr (1-99) The track numbers are meaningless and just increment and decrement between 1 and 99 when you press up or down on the steering wheel.

I would love to see a unit that can by-itself display the info on the navi & let us control the ipod through the cars controls.

Playlists in direct mode?
I just got my unit installed and left it in Playlist mode which is working pretty well. For those of you using Direct mode, are the HONDAx playlists still used in direct mode? I'm thinking I'll switch over to direct mode, but I kind of like the playlists for easy access to podcasts and such.
#50
You know, I am thinking the exact opposite. I may switch to playlist mode. I haven't tried it but according to the instructings, the playlists are only avail in playlist mode. What do you loose by being in playlist mode?

with the USASpec pa11-hon2 and hon2y you maintain full iPod controls using the clickwheel and iPod display screen(direct mode)-- in this mode you can also track up/down/fast forward and rewind using the radio buttons.
when in playlist mode the iPod screen and clickwheel are disabled... controlling the iPod is possible using the radio or steering wheel audio controls.
you decide how you want the unit to work-- there is a mode switch of sorts that lets you select which mode floats your boat.

The drive and play looks cool but I will never install a device that doesn't interface with either the navi screen or the info display up top. Just not my thing to have an aftermarket device hanging out there. And for me, 95% of the time I don't need to see what is playing so it doubly isn't worth it, but I can see how some people would crave it.

If you guys are looking for an IPOD interface that allow you to see an IPOD like menu on the Navi screen, the Valor Ilink does this. Only problem so far is that the videos in mp4 (the format ipod uses) does not show and requires you to convert it to an avi or divx ( which would render that file useless on the ipod unless connected to Ilink. So, unless they come out with a fix , which doens't look to promising you are basically buying the Ilink to have the menu on screen. It's about $150 i think. You get a remote too to control evertying. I might buy it.

Hey brianp6621,
Do me a favor and try out the random mode on the stereo when listening to the iPod (not the shuffle setting in the iPod). Let me know if it works. The UsaSpec website states that it's supposed to, but I have the previous version and the random feature does not work. Everything else works fine.

Since the UsaSpec emulates a cd changer it automatically assumes that the ipod is a cd that has 99 tracks which is why you are able to change the tracks so high. You would think that it would randomize between the first 99 tracks on the iPod. It's not a big deal though. It just bothers me when a product states that it does something that it isn't able to do.

the important pics are the bottom ones that show you do not need to remove the whole nav unit(if you have small hands/fingers). It's for a Blitzsafe unit but installation is similar, although you may want to use a different mounting location.

Safety Car
Here is the thread of the original PA11-HON2:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131280
There are instructions located in there.. somewhere..
Like jdeec suggested, the install for the PA11-HON2 is similar to the install for the Blizsafe and PIE X3. Some members have been able to install these modules with out taking much apart, while others took a good chunk of the center console apart.
Good luck!

I just finished installing this unit and so far everything is great. One problem though, I lost my xm. It says that there is no signal. I unplugged everything and made sure no wires were accidently pulled and replugged everything and still the same thing.
On the unit there is dial, its set to 4 but I thought maybe that had something to do with it so I went through each number and on number 7 the channel shows up for about 5 seconds then gives me the no signal again.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I just came back from a little drive and after about 10 minutes of driving the XM kicked in. I was checking every so often to see if it would work. Now it goes on right when the car starts up, not sure what happenned before but glad I got it to work.

Safety Car
I would guess that wherever you parked your car while installing the USA Spec blocked your XM reception. Your reception came back once you drove around a bit.
I had a similar issue with TPMS. After nearly 3 days parked in one spot, the sensors went off. Initially I thought I did something wrong or my PIE X3 was faulty, but all was well after driving it around.
Enjoy!
P.S. If you took pictures of the install, please post a DIY.

Sorry no pictures. I wasnt planning on installing it last night but when I saw how simple and fewer pieces it had I just figured what the hell. I installed it much quicker and it was easier than the PIE X3 install. I might have to remove everything again, I want to redo my sirius hookup and I have to get back there again. If I do I will post the pics of everything.

The valor ilink trasmits track data? Do you have pictures of this?

The DVD-A Script Guy
I think I might just throw out my Blitzsafe - HON/M-Link1 V.2X. Even after the FW update I get the following:
Any of you experienced anything like my first two problems with the USA Spec ?
I'm not eager to just throw away the $80 bucks I spent on it but having 6 discs spit back at me every time I want to change one gets old really fast. I can't prove it is the Blitzsafe causing the problem since I really don't feel like ripping the car apart enough to remove the thing unless I'm putting something new in.
- Delay in the HU switching between AM/FM, XM and CD /CDC functions. Many times the display keeps showing AM/FM or XM even though the iPod is playing.
- CD Changer "beeps" and spits out all 6 discs when I just want to exchange one disk
- iPod does not resume when car is re-started. At first I thought this would be a minor nuisance but now I find in annoying.
- No track control from steering wheel. Again I now realize this is nice.

I dont have any of the problems you mentioned. I am very happy since I transferred over from the PIE setup. Less wires and clutter. So much better to switch between my ipod and sirius without reaching under the dash and guess which input I am on. I think you will be pleased with it.

Hey guys, i'm not sure if this was asked and answered previously, but with the USA SPEC PA11-HON2y IPOD kit...it has AUX AUDIO INPUTS...are those left and right (red/white) wires only necessary if you plan on doing a dvd install in it? or are those wires connected to the radio or something? Thanks!!

It is my understanding that the audio inputs (L&R RCA) are there for you to connect any audio source (DVD Player, MP3, Satellite radio) to the radio.. the unit also controls and charges iPod products using the dock connector. You can use the unit as an aux input if you don't have an iPod.
To answer you questions, those inputs need not be connected to anything for the PA11-HON2y to work as described.-- the Aux inputs are optional.
Anyone else care to opine?
