Permanently blocking a street!

I would wonderin in NAVI is it possible to permanently block a street? I don't know why but my NAVI takes me thru this old part of town (Folsom, CA) which always has a lot of traffic when I am going home but when I am going away from home it takes me thru the new part which has the wider bridges etc. I conciously try to avoid going thru the old part if I realize what the NAVI is doing but sometimes I blindly follow the NAVI especially since I am new to this town. Well guess what the NAVI took me thru the old part of town, traffice was backed up as usual on a small street going uphill and I got rear-ended and it's all the NAVI's fault. So the question remains - can a street be permanently blocked?

no permanantly i think, but on every route you put in, you can avoid some streets in it's direction list

just take the street you want to take and the nav will recalculate your route to the one you want to take.

Folsom is not that big. Find the ways to get on Hwy 50 or over to I80. The only place your going is toward Tahoe, Reno or Sacramento! Should be able to learn the streets in short order. I think the prior post was only other answer.
