Peripheral PXAMG install questions...
For those of you who've installed this, a little help:
1) do i have to disconnect the car battery for this to install appropriately?
2) have any of you just tried pulling down the driver's side carpet to access the XM harness -- also -- is the XM harness the one closest to the driver's side?
Thanks

I didn't disconnect the negative battery cable, but that might not be the correct procedure. I removed the two trim pieces and the center console and then pulled out the lower portion of the dash to access the module. If I remember correctly, you are correct that it is the one closest to the driver. There is an awesome DIY in the garage with pics that help out a great deal. I hope you have small hands, cause things are tight down there.
I have the USA Spec module rather than the peripheral, but I believe the installation should be rather similar. First, I didn't disconnect the battery. Second, here's a thread with some resources - https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/i-160-usa-spec-install-633080/ Best of luck!
I followed ttribe's install guide for the peripherial, this was an uber easy install. Only hard part i had was popping off the silver trim... i was really scared i was going to break it.
As far as Italian's question, they have not released any new modules that can charge the new Apple products yet. Still in testing.
BUt I heard that you need to get a new unit, replacign just the wire won't work or something...but someone else please chime in if I am wrong.

I don't think you can get to the XM Harness by just pulling down the carpet. You'll need to loosen the lower dash panel in order to get high enough up the side of the head unit mounting frame to get to the harness plug. It's a pretty tight fit...
I just installed this unit:
Yes, you CAN get to the harness just by pulling down the carpet, I did this install in 15 minutes, including routing the wire to the center armrest and testing.
Why would anybody want to remove all that center console crap!! OMG
The unit rocks... i have a more thorough write up posted in this forum.
Oh, and I did NOT remove the negative batt terminal.
