periperal and new ipod touch

periperal and new ipod touch
I just got a new ipod touch to replace my broken nano. This morning i plugged in my new ipod and the unit reads the song but the sound is coming from the ipod not the stereo. anyone else having this problem with a new ipod touch or iphone 4?
