I installed the unit yesterday and am trying to work out any bugs before I go on a road trip today. The first and second time i used the unit it worked fine. But since then every time I have tried to use it it will lose the connection to the ipod every second or two for about 15 minutes and then eventually it will work fine. Has anyone ever had this problem before and what was the solution. I didn't realize they update firmware for these, but luckily I intalled it in a spot that is pretty accessible, so I plan on updating the firmware as soon as possible and hopefully that will fix it. But assuming if it doesn't fix the issue are there any other things I can try.

 

Well if anyone cares i figured out the problem. The seller on buy.com send me an outdated unit apparently according to peripheral the hardware in the unit is not compatible with ios4. They said i have to send it back to them for 30 to have its hardware updated.

 

I had the same problem and I just replaced the Ipod connection cable (it was under warranty).
