Pairing bombs after naming - Is there a BT reset?

Got the 2006 TL this weekend and paired up my wifes Cingular V3 no problem. I get in the car today, go to pair my BlackBerry 8100 Pearl, go through everything until I name the phone, as soon as I name it "Mark's Blackberry" it gives the tone that's it's dumping me out to the main menu...and it did. Tried it with my Cingular V3i and the same thing, give the code, find it, go to name it and bombs out after giving the name.

Anyone else come across this?

Go figure, it works now. I tried it a couple of hours later and it's fine. Got 3 phones in there now. Hopefully when I'm in the car with the wife it will get hers first.

Were you trying to pair while the car was moving? Or, in drive?

I know that you can start the pairing process sitting still, then start driving. But, if the vehicle is actually moving at the end (naming/saving), you're sunk.

I've had this happen before.

I could not name my phones certain things because, as the car stated, it sounded to similar to what I just said.

"Can not use "Sony Ericsson" because it sounds like "Sony Ericcson".

There is a long delay before it dumps you out.
I had to have it reset itself which clears out everything, numbers, phones, names. Everything.

Had the same thing happen to me (for the first time after pairing 4-5 other phones) just had to keep trying. NO idea what caused it, but it was frustrating!

I was having the same problem pairing my replacement Motorola E815.

After deleting my old phone, turning off the power to the car and turning it back on again seemed to make it pair.

My other thoughts were using the same PIN caused a problem as well as using the same name.

I had a situation where I had reflashed my phone and needed to pair the phone again. I used the menus to delete the phone and tried to set it up again. it would not work, even with a different name. I went inside overnight and tried it again in the morning and it worked. I thought it was a fluke, but maybe it takes time to clear.

who knows?

How did you reset everything, i have like 2 previous phones that I don't have anymore which I assume are still paired with the car. Anyone know?

I'll check and post later tonight if someone has not already gotten you the steps.

It might be under set up, but I know I did it through the cars voice prompts.

Exclamation

Okay with the car running or at "ACC".
Step 1: Press the HFL button and say "Help". The car will go through a list of Phone Set up Options, then a list of System options, the one you want is "Clear".
Step 2: Press the HFL button and say "System". Once its done saying the options here, press the HFL button and say "Clear". At this point it will give you a warning and ask for confirmation.

I provided step 1 because on my way back to work, I started talking with someone and started to forget what exactly the car said. But from the Main Menu in the HFL link if you say "help" you should come across the "Clear" option.
