Options to Replace Outer Nav Screen Cover?

I have a 2007 TL w/Nav. About a year ago I had the misfortune of having a metal tube impact the touch screen and gouge it somewhat.

The screen itself does not appear to be damaged, just the outer layer, and all the touch controls work fine.

I'd like to know whether it's possible to replace just the outer damaged cover of the screen, or whether I have to swap out the whole screen assembly from eBay.

And if I do get a replacement assembly (looks like it's 3070-SEP-A6?) will that necessitate getting a new unlock code or will my existing nav code continue to work?

Nav screen with gouge.

Thanks!

You probably have to swap out the whole screen assembly.

The outer portion is seperate, it is the touch panel for the screen; I might have a spare that I can get over to you. Let me check my storage unit this weekend. It's a bit of work to remove the screen and replace the panel, but worth it if you love the car.

Thanks for the insight and for the offer.

I don't mind putting in a little effort but I'd also want to weigh that effort against just dropping in a replacement unit and the possibility of me botching the job.

In the past I've seen these listed at $150-$200 on eBay but today I saw one pop up for just under $100... That's right at my tipping point for cost vs. effort these days so I grabbed it.

Once I've swapped it out I'll take a look at my damaged one, maybe I'll still want to do the swap to keep another functioning unit out there.
