Ok Audio and Video Nuts

I would like to get feedback on your thoughts around my proposed setup for my future TL.

I am going to get an '06 with Navi. I want SAT, MP3 ability and DVD video/audio.

I started out thinking I'd get the USA Spec for an iPod to solve my MP3 requirement, then get a headrest DVD player for the rear for my daughter.

I've changed my mind to do this:

Get 2 of these:

Then hardwire them into the Acura AUX (not sure if I need the USA Spec to do that, but I'm guessing I will). I'd use a splitter and switch to select which unit would be playing through the AUX input.
For the video, the car stereo place (Custom Car Stereo here in Houston) says they can patch that in to the from screen as well and use the same switch to determine which player's video shows up on the nav screen when wanted.

These can play MP3 CD's which keeps me from needing an iPod integration and gives a bonus of showing on screen the track and tag information.

So, when done, I'll have the ability to have one of the DVD players playing for my daughter using a headset for her to listen, and then the front main unit can either run normal and SAT, or view the other DVD player and listen to its sound.

What do you think?

One other thing, datmrman pointed out in another thread one thing I won't have is the ability to control tracks from the radio or steering wheel.

With this setup will I also be able to add the iPod if I like? (enough inputs on USA Spec)

USA Spec PA11-HON2 is iPod integration with an additional aux in for your DVD player.

As for video, you will need a video interface such as Dom's TVandNav2Go. The TL does not have any means for you hook to up a video device from factory. With this aftermarket module, you will allow able to add the DVD player. A search will bring up many threads covering this. There is a group buy for it in the Black Market that expired but seems to still be going on. They have package deals with DVD players as well.

Now if you don't care for iPod integration, then check out the P.I.E. X3. It will provide 3 aux in! Then with the Dom's unit, you can use Valor's iLink for iPod support with onscreen titles.

All the products I've mention have been used by members on this board. Just search and browse for more details. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply!

Well, I just decided on an RL over the TL, so I'm assuming the same is true for integration of AUX DVD audio and video.
I'll be on that board to post the same question.

I love the TL, and owned an '05 before it's demise in a skirmish with an SUV. I almost got an '06, but decided to go ahead and get the RL for the space it adds in the back (I have a 2 year old), and some other things I really like about it including rear sun shades and MP3 support already there. Now I only have to worry about DVD video/audio and no MP3 worries.

Thanks again!
