OEM Navigation

Hey guys!

I was just wondering how hard and expensive would it be to put in a navigation system into an '05 or '06 TL?

Do I have to run the DVD player box to the trunk? Is it worth it to just find a car that already has the navigation in it?

Thanks

I am also wanting to do this to a non navi 04 TL. Not finding any useful help or tips yet about adding and doing the conversion...hopefully someone will reply and give info. Seems like Acura dealers won't TOUCH it. I tried to ask mine and they acted like I had 4 heads and was speaking latin.

There are many threads here where people have done just that! Search using google with acurazine in the search. If you can do the work yourself it is worthwhile. If your gonna pay someone to do it it will be very expensive.

Why would you go through the trouble / cost to do this? Any modern smartphone has a way better navigation system (albeit smaller) for a much more reasonable price, and a backup cam would be a marginal benefit given the cost ($250 minimum for the tvandnav2go module + cam).

Either find a TL that already has nav and negotiate with the seller, or don't do it.

Agreed. Or just do a double din where the factory radio is and go aftermarket. I have always been baffled by the idea of a non nav to stock nav conversion. I had stock nav and it sucked so I took it out and went aftermarket.

No threadjack but I thought it was pointless mostly because the parts involved when it comes to the mounting? Brackets and installation kits were very scarce in availability AND options.

Personally I like my oem nav. Granted its not up to 2012 oem standards but for 04 it's pretty nice. My car came with it, not sure of it'd be worth the head ache/ cost to upgrade though if it didn't have it. I think it just makes the interior look much more with the times, especially at night.
