I was just wondering where the fuse is located for the LCD screen under the fuel gauge. I checked the inside and out side fuse boxes but couldn't tell which one it was. Im really just looking for a way the shut the screen off for a while. Im driving to VT tomorrow for the day to pick up some ummm *cough* *cough* and dont want people to notice that I drove almost 300 in a single day.

 

no way to do it since the LCD is connected to the cluster. You could buy a new cluster, use that and then swap the old one back...

 

so the cluster is the one that actually stores the odometer readings? I thought it would be somewhere else.

 

i thought it was in the ecu. and technically isnt it illegal to tamper with it lol

 

It's stored in the ECU and the cluster. If you connect HDS to the car, you can read the mileage. BUT if you get a new cluster the old mileage won't appear. You need to retrieve it via HDS and write it on the new cluster. I don't think that HDS can over-write mileage that's already on there, it has to be within a certain threshold.
