Now That The 710's Working, Some Questions....

Here we go.

1. When an incoming call arrives, does the system mute the navigation system's voice directions? Or when I'm talking to the wife about how I'm tucked away in bed will the nav go "turn left onto 42nd street....destination is ahead"?

2. When in a call and another call comes in, is there any audible/visual alert in the TL for "call waiting"? Or does the cellphone have to do the heavy lifting?

3. When on the handsfree with another passenger in the car and in the middle of a call, if I want to immediately switch to the handset and kill the speakers what's the fastest way to do so? Can I just open the flip and that's that?

4. Is there a short and non-bulky and non-curly and non-heavy-duty car power cord for the 710? I want to use the lower armrest's power socket and the upper armrest's small hole to place the phone in the upper armrest and get power from the lower armrest. Yeah, I could snake a curly cord up there but I don't want/need the bulk.

5. I read about how one can use a Transflash card/SD adapter to get photos onto the phone as wallpaper. When one does so, is the resolution cuttingly sharp, or does it fuzz out and get pixelated as the camera's photos do even at the highest camera resolution?

6. How do I control the volume of the person I'm talking to besides the volume knob on the TL? Do I use the 'center speaker' volume in the audio section of the nav? Do I use the side buttons on the 710? A combination of the two?

7. Somewhat related to #6, the person that's talking to me sounds really deep/muffled/bassy and I can hear occassional crackling as if the volume is too loud for the speakers (I know its not). Is this distortion controllable by the 'center speaker' volume, side buttons, etc? Or is this just the way in-car systems sound (this is my first)?

8. It would be cool to put a little movie file in the phone just to get friends to go "wow". What format should these be in (WMV, MPEG, RM) once I've got the aforementioned Transflash to put them in the 710?

TIA.

1. No

2. You'll hear the HFL "ring" and see the new number appear on the MID.

3. Not from what I've seen. I think you have to use the HFL "Transfer" command.

4. I don't know of one, but I haven't really looked. For the two curly ones I've used so far, I've just poked the shorter "straight" portion on the end through the hole to get power to the phone, and left the curly part in the bottome section.

5. Don't know. I haven't found a way to transfer pictures into the V710 yet. I also don't know about the camera portion. I haven't tried taking any pictures yet (and probably never will).

6. While the capability exists for the V710 volume controls to adjust the volume of the Motorola BT headset, I haven't checked if this is part of the official BT specification. Regardless, the TL doesn't seem to support it. You can control the received call volume level with the audio volume control knob or via the steering wheel volume controls.

7. It's most peoples' first. It appears to be related to both the V710's implementation and the TL's implementation of the HFP. The V710's sound quality seems better than my T610. At this point, I think the majority of the sound quality problem lies squarely on Johnson Control's (Acura's HFL designer) lap.
