Thumbs up Non navi to navi help!

Hey guys, I have an 05 TL with a non navi head unit. I was wondering if I could swap out my non navi with navi and have it "plug and play?" I see people talking about wiring harnesses and such which has me confused.

My plan is to pull out the non navi unit and replace it with the navi. Do I need to purchase new wiring or should the wires be able to directly plug into the navi unit without switching anything?

Thanks for the help!

You have to make most of the wiring yourself. It's not an easy task. If you don't understand the tutorials about it on Acurazine, do not attempt the project, you'll simply throw money down the drain.

An alternative solution is to insert an Android tablet in your dashboard. You'll see a lot of people using the Nexus 7 (2012) as a base for that. It's cheaper and much easier to do than non-navi to navi.

Is there a thread to the nexus? I haven't looked yet. AND when you say dashboard, where specifically are you talking about??

Thanks for the replies

Look in the audio section. There's quite a few threads of different people attempting it with different results in terms of looks and usability.

Most if not all people will relocate the stock HVAC display and radio display to the lower compartments (the 2 doors get sacrificed). Gives a pretty nice look, and you get great functions from having a fully fledged Android tablet instead of "just" a navi unit in the TL.

He meant navi screen; in your case the non navi screen. There are some great threads with excellent details on some.
