No ringtone or prompt

I just got a Bluetoot compatable cheapie phone ( Samsung A870 ) and got it paired etc and all seems to work well but for the incoming call prompt or ringtone .

When I get a call it does interupt the audio and the (non-navi) display says "Hands Free Link" but in neither the ringtone or the prompt option do I get any form of notification. When I press talk it operates as it should.

Is there something else I should be doing ... I RTFM and followed everything step by step.

Right now the only way I know there is an incoming call is if I notice the audio cancellation or I here the cell phone ring.

I'm experiencing the same problem with my Treo 700p. It pairs flawlessly but and can make calls but I cannot hear the incoming voice from the other line. All I hear is little static noise.

Not quite the same .. I just don't get notified with a ringtone or prompt .. but once I press talk to answer it its flawless.

Have you checked your handsfree profile on your cell phone? It may be set to silent ring. The HFL might have a setting as well. I just don't remember off the top of my head.

The HFL has a setting where it asks if I want a ringtone or a prompt .. doesn't work either way .

The phone itself rings with an incomming call but I will check more phone settings.

Question Samsung A870

I bought the Samsung A870 and had little trouble pairing it with my 2005 TL. The phone found the HFL. I knew the phone just had basic capabilities but I am not in my car a lot so I was happy with that. The HFL works just fine with outgoing calls but does not recognize incoming. My cell phone rings and if I try to transfer the call the HFL says that there is no incoming call. If I then use my cellphone, the HFL kicks in. Weird, huh? I don't know of any settings that will fix this. I'm on the Telus network in BC, Canada

Hmmm... Sounds like another funky electrical mystery for JimmyDee to solve.

When are you down next? I think we need to do surgery...
