I just purchased a new 2008 TL and none of the DVD Audio discs I have display any song or title information. I've selected the display button and no luck.

I've even checked one of my discs (Sting - "Brand New Day") on my computer and the text is there. Is there something wrong with my player?

Nothing wrong. The TL does not display that information with DVDA

The fields will populate if burn a CD with text.

...on the internal deck only. If an external deck is used as well, it will not. XM is the only external source that will display text. Unless you have an 08, we're trying to figure that out right now.

FYI -- DVD-Audio discs do not display text ANYWHERE . . . not just in the TL. CD-TEXT is not part of the spec.

Ok..so only xm will display the title in the screen where the clock is correct? but what about if you select track list. Is is supposed to have any titles in there on cd or dvd audio play or will it always just say track 1 track 2 and so on?

What I've found very interesting is that I looked at one of my DVD-Audio's using my computer. There is a .TXT file on the disc that lists all track information.

Are you saying 08's "may" have CD text for the external CD Changer?
If so, wouldnt the 07's have that also?

On '04-'06 TL, other than XM, no text what-so-ever.

Beginning with the '07 TL, CD-Text is included; no DVD-Text; no text with anything plugged into the aux-in; XM text is still there.


So to answer your question, when there is no text, track numbers are displayed.

You can also display text from MP3 discs as well. It will even read tags from within the MP3 files.
