No Audio from CD's
No Audio from CD's
I was talking on my bluetooth the other day through my Palm Pre like normal. Everything was fine until I hung the call up. I was expecting the cd player to resume..like it normally does but it didn't. Now, the radio, xm (not sure about the tape player) have sound just not the cd player. If I go in and play with the cd player...it will cause the radio not to work and I have to turn the car off and back on. When I pressing buttons trying to get it to work...I noticed "Audio Off"(or somethign along those lines) flashed on the screen for a split second..then went off. Has anyone seen this before? Is this common? I have been searching this board and still haven't found a topic on it..
Mine did the same thing. If I put in a CD it would load it, show it but never play sound, then the whole radio would cut out. The Cd player is causing a short and it would get hot and shut down. I took it out and brought it to a stereo guy but it would be too costly to fix. Try to find a used radio, I did.
This happened to me and countless other people, there are a bunch of threads but I don't have time to look up the exact threads (I am sitting in class). Your CD unit is dead, which is a shame because the radio and everything else still works.
You have to buy a new one. just make sure you buy the correct year(s) of audio head unit, because the 2004 TL's use different wiring than the ones for 2005 and onward. If you have NAVI installed in your TL that is an issue, but if not then you don't need to be year-specific.
I have navi in mine so I had to be careful about the years. Don't buy one from the dealer, because they will try to charge you $400 for the unit and another $100 for labor, but you can easily buy it for $150 and install it yourself. It's quite easy, I've done it myself three times now (just switching out units, not that mine has died three times).

That really sucks because I dont want to loose the factory look but I'm not going to pay the money they want to charge. This whole car is falling apart. I doubt I buy another Acura...Maybe I'll just trade this car in.
When you buy the head unit it fits right in with the decor. My old and new head units look the exact same, so you don't have to worry about cosmetics if that's your main concern.

From experience the 07's work...but let me talk to my buddy who also did a swap to see what he says. I will get back to you ASAP once I hear from him (he probably won't get back to me until after work tonight).
