New XM Promotion

To set the stage, I bought my car in March, used XM for 3 months, then let it expire. I just got a card in the mail for a new promotion from XM. They are offering the following plans: 1) Subscribe at $9.99 per month and get free companion air fare (no length commitment). 2) Subscribe at $9.99 per month and get free companion cruise fare (no length commitment). 3) Subscribe for one year at $60 ($5 per month). 4) Subscribe for 1st 3 months at $5.99, then it goes to $9.99. Visit travelrewards.xmradio.com for details. Thought you might want to know. I'm seriously considering #3 for myself.

I just got the notice in the mail yesterday and hadn't read it yet because I don't want XM, but here's some more info.

It expires August 31, 2004

As oswald said, you can go to travelrewards.xmradio.com for more info. Do not paste this into your browser because for some reason it doesn't work there, but put it in google and it will work.

You can also call 1-800-321-7117 for more info.

Oswald, a big Thank You for the info :gheywave:
I had just renewed because my OEM trial was expiring on 8/24/04 but after reading your post I called XM on Sunday morning [8/22/04] at 8:30 AM [call this number for better service 1-800-998-7900] and said I got a card in the mail for the special rate and I wanted to take advantage of it. So XM explained the special rate option [same as you said], took my old renewal off the plan, and I took the $60/1 year. AHHHHHHHHHHHH saving money with good information is great
Thank.

Oawald,

Great find thanks! Much like yourself I bought car in March and after 3 months let it expire. I'm not much for music but enjoyed the comedy and news stations but it simply wasn't worth it to me to pay 9.95 a month. Doing this one shot at half the price, no activation fee and so forth makes it a reasonable enough deal to give it a good year test. Oh I also have the that once summer came to the North East I found that reception was often interupted in my hilly tree lined areas of driving. But again at $60 worth another shot.

BTW entering

http://www.xmradio.com/travelrewards/index.jsp

should get everyone there okay. I just got of phone having signed up for the year subscription for $50 no fuss no muss. Confirmed no application fee and they had my original free account information so didn't even need my XM radio ID number. Just a credit card number.

Thanks again p GREAT FIND

Another thank you for that info. My actual setup took a while longer because I have 2 radios on my account, but the guy who answered said there was no problem in setting it up. The prorating took some time and I'm still not sure if it was correct so I may have to call back to verify.

Thanks again!

By the way, 800-998-7900 and 800-321-7117 connect to the same call center--I'll call back to verify tomorrow.

I have only had my TL for 1 month, so still have 2 more free months of XM. If I call to sign up for the $60 promotion, will I still receive the 2 free months or would I lose them? I really would like to take advantage of the discounted rate.

CPA, call them and ask. I am in the same boat as you. We might have to lose 2 months of service, but this is worth it, imho.

They will start the special 1 year rate at the end of your current free subscription. Just did this myself. Too good of a deal to pass up.

Anybody know what happens if you have 2 radios (home/car)?
I've had XM for a while and have been billed quarterly? Can I
still get this for 2 radios?

Can I just tack on 1 year?

I have a 2004 Acura TL and a 2003 Ford Ranger (Alpine aftermarket XM). When I called to get the $60 a year renewal, they put it on the Acura since it was the one the promotion was for (factory installed). They are now charging me the "family rate" of $6.99 a month for the Alpine aftermarket unit.

So you can only get the $60 on the Acura; maybe the other factory-installed outfits (Honda, GM, etc.) are doing the promotion too, though. But it will save you money anyway by dropping the rate on your other radio.

I just called and got the $60 promotion. The guy said it would start at the end of my free period (still 2 more months) just like was posted here. This is a great deal. Maybe they will have something like this in 14 months when my subscription ends.

I just signed up. I was hesitating on renewing the XM service but at that price it's certainly worth it.

Yea, also signed up today and will take effect after my trial period. Had to take advantage of it cause the cost was too good to pass up.

I asked the salesperson about future promos and they will send notifications as it happens.

I just called and referenced the website and told them I want the $60 deal. Only took 2 mins. Great find and thanks go out the original poster.

BTW - if you are like me and pay quarterly, you should know that they bill in advance. So, in my case, I had already paid for 3 months into the future. Since I am still in that quarterly window, I will receive a credit for the remainder of this quarter for which I already paid and a $60 charge covering the next 12 months. Bottom line is that today I paid less than $60 and I am all squared away for the next 12 months. Again, great find.

Just renewed mine yesterday at $60/year - had full function of radio in 20 minutes. I recommend using a credit card otherwise they will bill you a $2 per month invoice charge. Remember that this promotion ends on August 31.

Musta taken it off due to all the money they were losing out on as every TL member called and changed their plan.
