Neo iPod Adapter - Opinions?

I have a 2005 Acura TL w/ Navi and am looking for an ipod integration that will allow the following:

Won't interrupt HFL when ipod is playing - calls still need to come through
Will display text on Navi screen or dash screen
Can control through steering wheel, radio, or iPod itself
Charges iPod when in use
wont interfere with XM or Navigation

- It seems like the Neo iPod Adapter will do the trick - just wondering what your opinions are or if anybody has installed it and has some feedback for me.

Thanks!

I had a NEO on my 2000 Volvo. No HFL there and no text screen. The adapter did work very well with controls on the unit and on the iPod. I am looking into getting one for my 2008 TL.

Looks like the prepherial unit is for you, XM retained, IPOD text, IPOD control, etc... Also what exactly do you mean by the HFL thing, do you want the ipod to play while HFL is in use or the oppiste of that?

Thanks for the feedback so far -

To clarify - I want the iPod to silence when the HFL (Hands-Free Link) is working (when a call comes in or I make a call).

I think Neo has come out with a new version of their older ipod integration products.

The Neo looks like a great product if it truly can do as it says... FULL CONTROL of an iPod. I have the SPEC and it's fairly limited in that you can only use 5 playlists and if you do anything on the ipod itself, it interrupts the adapter.

All I want is a clean, fully functional way to access ALL the music on my iPod.

Exactly - I just want something that functions properly and seamlessly integrates. I think this product will work well, but wanted to get input from others that might have already installed it on their TLs.

As a side note - I'm thinking about buying an iPhone, but wonder if I could make and receive phone calls through the HFL when listening to the music on the iPhone.... thoughts?

Ross, did you ever buy this?
I'm really interested too but there just isn't a lot of info out there about it. I'd really like to see a screenshot of how it displays on the navi screen but I can't find one anywhere.
Anybody ever used one?

I installed the NEO unit before on Honda's and they are pretty easy to use. The units that I installed did not support text. From what I hear, the new units still do not support text. You can search through playlists, songs, artist. You just don't know which artist you are on until you hear the first song.

I as well as other users, have installed the DICE unit and this unit does support text when you omit the XM. It will also allow you to search by artist, playlist, song.

For the price and text support, I would go with the DICE unit. Dice unit 159.99 Neo unit 199.99

This unit will also mute when you have an incoming call because it will plug into your CD-C/XM port in the back of the radio.

For me, the problem is that I use Sirius a lot and want that capability. I hae the Spec model installed now. The problem I have with it is that it only will play 5 playlists and, kike the sat signal, is very low, somewhat muted. I have to crank up the volume to hear it well, nearly twice what I have set for CD and FM.

Sorry to be a pest. Still desperately looking for opinions on the Neo unit and how it works with the 07/08 navi screen.
I tried calling them but haven't heard back.

There is a youtube video of a 2008 TL-S running an IPHONE with the peripheral unit integrated to the navigation. I do not have a navigation unit on my 2005 and I just installed a peripheral and I am very happy with this unit. I can use the steering control to flip through the songs, and use their procedure on browsing through other playlists, genres, artists, while the current song is playing. It displays the text while all of this is going on.

Here is the video of the TL-S running this unit.

By the way if I haven't said it, this very easy to install and it is a great unit. Sound quality is great!

Let me know if you guys have any more questions or need help once this is installed.

Cool, thanks for the info. The peripheral unit is definitely a consideration, but I can't make a choice until I've found more info on the Neo unit. If the Neo unit works as well as they say it does on paper, I think it would be the superior product.
I've contacted Neo about it and they said they'd have a tech contact me but they never did. The sales rep couldn't answer my questions.

FYI: The Peripheral unit is incompatible with 07/08 TLs w/ Nav. This is because NavTraffic was introduced with the 07 model, which required some major changes in wiring. To accomodate the NavTraffic info, the XM tuner on the 07/08 has two inputs. For some reason, both of these inputs are necessary for XM to work properly. The user in the YouTube video above got the Peripheral unit to work with his '08 TL-S by swapping his XM tuner for a Sirius one. Peripheral is apparently developing a software work-around for '07/08 Nav models, but it looks like we're SOL for the moment

I'm also interested in the Neo unit for my '08 TL w/ Nav, so let us know if you hear from them...
