Need Your Opinion on This Massive 1000 watt Amplifier
I am thinking of selling my Rockford Fosgate 1001bd amp that puts out 1000watts and buying the Alpine MRD-M1001 amp that puts out the same but has more functions than the Rockford Fosgate amp. Need your assistance whether I should go for it. Is this a better amp over the Rockford Fosgate 1001bd???

you can't go wrong with that amp... Alpine makes a great amplifier.. I've used their stuff forever. i have the 605 which is about half the power.. pushing 1 12" Alpine.. it kills it, and they don't go bad.. go for it

Hey man im gona be strait foward with u. Just to let u know i work at circuit city so i have seen both of those brands in action. The alpine is a great amp; its one of the most versitle amps on the market. But if u want the same power that the rockford is puting out then u will be dissapointed in the alpine. Rockford always underates there product. Your 1000 watt amp is probably doing around 1200 watts easy. The alpine amp is more of a sound quality amp and will hit a thousand watts but its during a musical burst. I just wanted to let u know some of the difference's between the two products.

an MRD-M1001 is an older model right? I know the 2005 MRD-M1005 is only 700 watts rms @ 2 ohm and 500w rms at 4 ohm. This is at 12 volts
it will pump out 1000 watts rms at 2 ohm if you hook it up to 14.4v
the rockford is 750 watts rms at 2 ohms, so its pretty similar. It puts 1000 watts into a 1 ohm load.
SO it depends on what kind of subs you are getting really. Both companies make good amps

Yeah the Alpine amp is last yrs model and I know a place that is selling it for a really good price. Theirs is so much more you can do with the Alpine amp over the Rockford amp. Plus it looks really good. The only draw back is the size of the alpine is twice the size of my RF 1001bd. So maybe I should buy it then. I think the Alpine will out perform the RF amp in terms of SQL. Which amp would you all think will kick ass in terms of SPL level and Sound Quality level??

Try eD amps
I'd give one of these babys a try! http://www.edesignaudio.com/product....=Specs&cur=USD
eD makes quality products, and back them!!! you won't be dissapointed, click on the testimonials to see what users say about them. I have an eD sub, and it's fantastic!!

Also, it's unlikely you'd be able to hear the difference between a 1200w amp and a 1000w amp.
Percieved sound volume is measured in db which increases logarithmically. Not linearly.
I have Fosgate and Alpine amps. They're both great. Go for features.

in all hoensty id put that nine.1 in front of both the alpine and rockford. those things are slightly uidnerrated so expect about 1350 out of those at 1ohm. id consider that one of the best amps out there in terms of "best bang for the buck"

But I heard the Alpine M1001 has the capabilities to put out 1800watts into 1ohm load. Now that is Power for a 1000 watt amp. I think i will go for it and purchase it.

If Alpine doesn't say it's stable at 1 Ohm, I would say the quote of 1800 watts into 1 ohm is heresay, as if you did that, there would go your warranty, and probably your amp as well...... Good luck with that, let us know how it sounds and I do hope your planning on 2 ohm instead of 1 with that amp.
Alpine Specs:

And, since your heart is stuck on the Alpine, you can get that alpine here with free ground shipping for $388, but this is the MRD-M1005 model...which is just the latest version of that amp. http://store.yahoo.com/discave/mralmochpoam.html
