Need some advice on new speakers please
I have an 05 TL (non navi) and want to KEEP the head unit. Can someone please recommend what speakers to buy to replace the factory ones with something with more kick? I basically want the whole system to be louder and have more bass so that when you are listening to a song and the bass hits you feel it vibrate the seats. I want to rock out to some Korn or Tool or even Spongebob Squarepants and Disney radio when I have the kids in the car, lol.
I have searched the forum, but just don't know enough about stereo systems to have a clue of what I am looking for. I don't want a trunk full of speakers, but just replacements that fit just like the factory ones that will work with the stock head unit that kick major ass and hit hard, are crisp and loud as hell.
Thanks in advance for your guidance guys.

any after market 2ohm speaker will work make sure it has a lower rms power rating not the stupid peak rating
6.5 in the front and rear tweeter in the dash and center channel is a small 4"
I have Arura bass shakers new if you want the feelling of more bass? if not most 6.5 speaker will not give you the kick you are looking for
some people just add a sub in the trunk
I did free air jl subs 10" x2 they work great but Im stepping up to a very high end set up this winter
focal sub amps and speakers dvd tv deck ect

You will be sorely dissappointed by just switching speakers. You cannot get what you want by switching speakers. The sucky little stock amp can only put out so much power. Pull back the front passenger right side footwell panel and you can see it.
If you want seat vibrating bass, crisp highs and hard hitting high volume you will need to step up to bigger amps, bigger subs and higher end speakers. Add some damping material to this to keep everything from rattling.
That being said, it is possible to get all this without stuffing your trunk full of equipment and not having room for one grocery bag.
Princelybug"s audio install comes to mind. I did his audio install and he still had lots of room in his trunk.

1) What is your budget? you can pay $50 to $20,000 for speakers, amps, and install, so knowing a budget helps. 2) Are you a DIYer or will someone else do the install?
The best advise I can give is keep is simple. If you get the right combo of speakers to replace the existing front speakers, remove all the back speakers, and add a 12'' sub, you'll have a system that blows away 90% of what you hear out there.

I am definitely NOT a DIY kinda guy. This would be all paying to have it done. Replacing the factory amp is not an issue either, the only factory thing I would want left is the head unit. Budget...500 bucks or less would be perfect (plus installation).

You're a little under budget for a good system. If you want the "kick" before new speakers you should.. disconnect the factory sub and hook up an aftermarket budget sub with a cheap amp. If you tap into the factory sub wire, you can even control it through the dash. But if you want speakers thats definitely out of your price range.

along the lines of the original post. what sizes of speakers fit the original front and rear openings? i am guessing that 5 1/4 work in the front and 6 1/2 work in the rear but some independant confirmation would be nice..
thanks.
thanks.

im trying to figure out what I want done to my sub.
i've researched the forums and seen two options:
1. disconnect factory sub, connect to high input for new sub + new amp.
2. hi-lo converter + new amp + new sub..
what's the difference?
