Need help wiring double din!

I have a 2004 Navi TL, I just purchased a Pioneer FH-X700BT to replace the stock radio under the Navi. The problem is that I have no sound, I get power and the tuner appears to be playing (shows track info and sound-bars moving). Prior to the instillation everything was working fine, so I could assume nothing is wrong with the speakers. I've read that you might have to start the amplifier with a different cord on the harness? But I'm not entirely sure, I've looked everywhere for diagrams for wiring and cannot find one! If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated! (Pictures help me a lot! )

Welcome to the forums. I moved your thread to the 3G TL Forum since you have a 2004 TL.

going to need alot more information about how the new HU was integrated into the OEM system if you would like some troubleshooting tips. What amp are you talking about "starting"?

The amp turn on wire is red with a yellow stripe as memory serves. You will have to conect the blue remote turn on out of the Pioneer to it to turn the amp on.

Oh and also I've read else where on the forums that it is wise to remove the factory amp. Is it an easy process? I'm just looking for an easy fix to having Bluetooth audio in my car. Thanks!

you only need an aux adapter like an iSimple and then a bluetooth gateway no need for a double din

Sonically?

<1v of preamp output
no usb input
mediocre D/A
the performance of the amp and speakers (especially sub) are less than what I want. Granted, this is not headunit specific, but still sonically not good.
Feeding more input to the amp helps this * a little *.

Operationally?

The nav is awful, the non nav is a perfect reason to buy a double din in the first place
all of the ipod/aux in's are clunky at best if you want to control media from the factory controls, or you can control from the device which I find to be a PITA while driving.
Why do I still need a tape deck?
I don't want an aux cable, an ipod cable, and a separate bluetooth adapter when I can have all of that integrated through one device.

So your statement of fact :"you only need an aux adapter like an iSimple and then a bluetooth gateway no need for a double din" is just not true.

this is a design from 2003 you cannot expect that kind of functionality or connectivity.

If your amp can deal with the low voltage output then you have no issues, or run a processor.

OP has a 2004. he needs an aux input and a device to allow blutooth streaming if blutooth connectivity is what he desires. he does not need to replace the HU in order to get that.

plenty of SQ cars using the OEM HU. it is typically not the weak link in the setups you see here that are "upgraded"

I agree with you on the non navi for sure. and yeah you dont need that BONUS tapedeck!

more easily obtained thru other means. Not to mention those are not high quality sources, but to each his own.

My iPod containing AIFF files played through a USB and 24 bit DAC is plenty high quality, especially in a car.

I agree, that is good source material. But the OP was desiring bluetooth connectivity in an 04.
