Hey guys i have WDP 08 tl base with nav, but my nav isn't working ,the screen is always black nothing shows up, but my radio and heat controls work. I need some help and advice on what to do I don't have warranty either. I don't have the nav disc in the trunk didn't come with the dvd drive, do you guys think thats the reason why the screen isn't working, and do you need the nav gps disc in the dvd drive in the trunk to make the screen work, does it control that. I really don't know what to do please help me what should I do.

 

And I also wanted to know where to buy nav disc, I went to the dealer and they don't sell them do guys know where I can find one for my car

 

well if there is no disc in the trunk, the screen does blackout but it always say error / missing a disc if there is a problem with the disc. Do you want a "new" one or "used" one? new one can be only find at http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...e=IPF-A99-0910

To tell you guys the truth my original nav was stolen and I ended up buying a 07 tl type s nav and it came with the dvd drive in the trunk but no nav disc. I hooked it all up in my 08 tl base and everything works except the screen is black all the time. I do like the red lighting on the unit it doesn't bother me, it looks nice. All the plugs on the back were the same when hooking up. Once I was finish I got the radio code from the dealer and it worked, but the nav is still black. Do you guys think the type s nav of a 07 won't work on a 08 base tl, and can you give me tips on what to do, I heard you can disconnect the battery, also look at the fuse, but I think the problem is the nav disc, I don't have one and I think thats making the screen go black. Whats you guys think any advice will help I'm telling the truth

 

don't I suppose to see on the screen if it needs a code I don't see that its always black/blank. The dealer told me that the screen needs to say code on it, also they said you need the nav disc to make the nav work, but shouldn't the screen still work for the radio but not the nav, I can't see my audio display too, not even my heat display, or anything on the screen. What should I do, I'm getting alittle frustrated with this, been trying to fix all week please help me guys.

 

I'll tell you what was stolen from the car they stole my 08 tl original nav, also the dvd drive in the trunk and the nav disc. I brought everything again, but it was off a 07 tl type s and I put it in my 08 base tl.

Now I'll tell you what works in my car. my cd changer works, fm/am, aux, bluetooth, heat controls/AC, and tape cassette. All of these work but I cannot it on my screen the display always what can I do to fix that, and my nav is not working and i'm missing the nav disc. Did anyone else go through what I did. I need your opinion on this cause im new to this forum and I know this site is good and helpful thanks.

 

Pretty sure if you get the nav disk, you will be back in business and if not it will help diagnose your issue.

 

Does the screen have power? Does it light up at all?

 

does the system beep or do anything at all? I'd get the navi dvd first and then if that doesn't fix it, have the person who did the installation check all the wires to make sure that the harnesses were put back together properly.

 

yeah the screen lights up when I start up the car so that means it has power right but no display is showing on the screen though. I was the one who did the installation and all the harness and plugs went well. So you guys think its the nav disc that's causing my screen to be blank and I don't have the disc. Can you guys do me a favor, if you guys have navigation in your car can you guys eject the nav disc out of your DVD drive in your trunk, and then start up your car without the nav disc in your dvd drive, and tell me if your screen is blank, I really need this info it will make my day better cause buying the nav disc will fix my screen and my problems.

 

I'll post a picture of how my screen looks to give you guys an idea. the screen does light up when I put my keys in the ignition, but no display on the screen. I'm thinking I need the nav disc, but I could be wrong. Please find out how your screen will look when you take out your disc out of your dvd drive in your trunk. Also I wanted to ask you guys do leave your nav disc in the dvd drive in the trunk all the time, and is it possible to reset the screen

 

you should at least have an error message saying that to insert the DVD on the screen.
