look in the trunk, behind the trunk linner in the dvd rom drive corner. it sould be connected to the XM antenna, its a square with connectors going to it. it's right above and to the left of the dvd unit. two bolts hold it on a metal frame support.
Since the OP has a 2005, the iSimple isn't going to be in the trunk.
In the pre nav-traffic cars, the unit connects at the back of the stereo, not in the trunk.
Mine is right behind the stereo, and is accessible without taking anything apart. Next to your gas pedal, pull the carpet out a little from the console area and look in there with a light. Odds are good it will be in plain view.

I second this ^^^^ my adapter is in or near this location as well
It is likely behind the stereo. The unit plugs into the leftmost connector on the stereo. If you cannot find the unit easily, then take the panels off and follow the connector from there. I have seen some installs where people zip them behind the stereo and you have to disassemble to find it.
When you put it back in, there is enough cord/harness to keep the unit up under the dash where you can get to it by only removing the lower panel where your feet go.

I don't think you can put it in the trunk- you'd need a real long head unit adapter to place it that far away. If you don't want the iPod cluttering your center console, you can probably find a way to tuck it into the back of the control panel along with the iSimple.
I have my iSimple against the plastic wall to the right of the gas pedal. My iPod is in the top of the center console, but it could really go anywhere, since the iSimple cable to the iPod is pretty long.
Good luck.

I recently installed the iSimple and mine is located right inside the panel directly under the steering wheel. Its necessary to take it off anyway to install so I just tucked it right in there. The way I see it is I only have to take off one panel to access it.
Also, if youre going to be doing the install yourself, you will notice next to your right knee is a small vent on that same panel. Im pretty sure that panel regulates the air inside in terms of whether in car circulation needs to be on or not. Its a small sensor that I would recommend cleaning out because dust does get in there.

I put mine under the cupholders in the center console and ran the wire for the ipod through the two comparments.
To access it is pretty easy, remove the silver strips and 4 screws and I just have to slide the center console back to get to the unit for any reason.

On 07+ it is in the trunk but on 04-06 it connects in between the xm connector harness right behind the headunit. I can't tell what the op has because I'm on my phone but if it's 07+ lucky for him because that is much easier to get to than the previous years. Ask me how I know.... Hahaha
