Exclamation Need help finding an audio solution for my 2005 Acura TL with Navigation

I've got a 2005 Acura TL with navigation that I purchased last week. I am looking to put a Subwoofer and Amp into the car but it has proven to be much harder than i knew. It sounds like an iSimple device isnt compatiable with the navigation model. Ive looked at double Din but it also seems that with the navigation it will not work unless its custom made which would be difficult to afford at this time with the 105k servicing coming up and me being a student. I just need options, Ive been into a local car audio store and we have been unable to find any real solutions. They want to take my radio out and see what its looking like inside but I don't want to pay for that labor if Im not even gonna have anything done. Does anyone have an idea for me? is there a non custom double din kit with mounting out there? I've consider Bluetooth adaptor but the guy at the shop has strongly suggested against it stating the quality would be not worth it. If custom Double din kit is all that is avaliable could somebody suggest or link a guide to make one?

Thanks all for the help!

Why are you considering a double din HU? iSimple absolutely makes a device that is compatible because I have one. A sub and amp is a slam dunk to install? If the audio shop cant figure it out they are clueless. Search for my build "mild grade fever"

I wouldn't even consider a double din unit.
If all you are looking for is a subwoofer and amp install buy a line output converter... Its a small box that takes the speaker wires from your factory sub and converts them to RCA jack. You then connect that to your sub amp.

I don't know much about your sub problem but as far as audio I would just get an I simple or a grom. I went with grom and love it

flyromeo has the right answer. If you just want a sub+amp, you don't need to change the headunit. The TL comes with a sub in the center of the rear deck, so you can unplug the existing unit and reuse these wires into a LOC (line output converter) for the signal to the amp. Then just route a power wire from the car battery and the remote wire from accessory fuse #32. If you don't know what I'm talking about, your car stereo installer will. It's very simple - less than a 30 minute install, and parts should be $50 (LOC ~$20, simple Amp kit ~$30)

Everything you need to know is in this thread (or the links):

And if you do want to do it yourself, this thread is pretty helpful:

Adding a sub and amp is relatively easy on this car.

I cut the subwoofer signals from the wires by the OEM amp in the passenger kick panel and mounted the amp under the passenger seat. That way I did not have to run any new wires into the trunk. I took the preamp signal and made RCAs with them that go to the sub amp. I used the stock subwoofer wires post amp and extended them to the sub amp with the RCA. Then I just unplugged the old sub in the trunk and used those wires to the new sub which was mounted on a baffle.

I did have to use a booster for the remote turn on because the stock one was not strong enough.

The power wire from the battery is run through the center of the firewall. Acura was nice enough to include a predrilled hole. Just look for the rubber plug in the center of the firewall.
