Navigation update CD for 2006 TL...
Hi - about a year and a half ago I purchased a used 2006 Acura TL. I'm pretty sure the navigation reflects what was installed in the car originally and I notice occasionally that the navigation is inaccurate in some locations, especially in locations where some major roads have been slightly re-routed (I live in Northern Virginia and notice I always have problems around the I-495/I-395/I-95 intersection in Springfield).
Would it be worth it to purchase the 2012 update (v3.B0) for $149? Is there any way to get this update cheaper? Sorry - I'm guessing this has probably been asked before but I don't know anything about this stuff, thanks!

Wardnine, welcome to Acurazine.
To answer your question, it would be an excellent idea to update your disc-especially since your TL is an '06.
I'm sure there have been many updates since your disc was new. That is a good price on the disc too, since they usually run $185.

All 07-08 and Type S TL's use the the White DVD and it can be burned by patching a few files. No one has figured out how to patch the files on the Orange disc. Don't start making coasters.
I live in MD and have an 06 TL. Updated the Nav disk for 2010. There are indeed significant updates to the local roads. However, at least the 2010 edition does not show the new MD Intercounty Connector MD-200 and the new interchanges with I-95 (toll road just opened all the way to I-95 last week 11/22/11). Does show the new Wilson Bridge and the Springfield (I-95/495) Interchanges. Does not show the work being done at Telegraph Road. Does not show any work on northern VA High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes or the tweaks with the interchanges (like closing of some of the I-66 ramps). It is possible that the 2012 update has some of these updates.
As I understand it the feds are responsible for update the digital maps for the interstate system (including I-95, I-495, and I-66 in our area)only after the work is complete (eg. new interchanges/ exit numbers) and provide them to outfits like NAVTEQ (map provider for acura and google). Not sure when local/state roads (like the MD-200 Intercounty Connector get added).
As we think the updates are a bit costly for what you actually get, we are going to wait until we know for sure that these updates are included before shelling out for another update.
