Navigation install on an 05

Hey guys and gals,

What do I need to order or get to get the factory navigation system into my 2005 TL. What part number or part numbers do I need.

I am sure I will need a different screen from what is in there already and probably a different Drive. The car currently has 6 disc changer in it with tape deck.

The I will need an antenna and disc.

Is there a kit you can get that gives you everything? Thanks

hi and welcome to the forums, please use the search function and take a look in the 3G garage. There are numerous threads on this subject.

Do a search on 'navi conversion' under the 3G section. It'll come back with some useful results.

I've done this conversion myself and it's not cheap or a simple bolt on.

As you'll read, you'll need the pick up Electrical Troubleshooting Manual along with the Service Manual just so you can navigate the wiring and take the car apart.

The parts list is also long but if you are patient, you can get the big buck parts for a fairly low cost.

Also, consider the installation of a carputer. The one catch there is figuring out what to do or where to put the existing displays.

Good Luck!

Thanks guys,

I checked it out and it looks quite involved. Not a simple plug and play. My mom wants it in her car now. She didnt get it when she ordered her car originally and now wishes she did.

She is on this kick because I just installed it in my wifes Charger R/T and she loves the screen and how simple it was to install. It bolted right in. It took about 15 minutes to do the whole job start to finish. Pretty amazing how simple it is to put in that car. I think her next car is going to be an MDX or RDX Acura and she said for sure she is going to get the NAVI. She is like me as to having the nice clean look. Nothing suction cupped to the windshield..

or if she wants navi, tell her to take advantage of the new TL coming out and geta new TL with navi, plus she can get a good deal on trade in too since the 4G is not out offically.
