Hi everyone my name is Jerald I’m new here and also the new proud owner of a 2004 TL base model. I have a question I want to install Nav on my TL, will a 07-08 complete unit (dvd trunk player, DVD, ect.) work on my car? Or will I have to look for just the 04-06? Thanks in advance….

 

it is possible to put the 2007-2008 unit your car, it would be easier to use the 04-06 unit installation wise but if your going to be stripping the car to do the conversion, might as well upgrade it to the 07-08 unit.

kenny416 was able to do this with his tl. He is canadian so his TL does not have HFL or XM like ours in the US does so he had to add all of this into the car. He gives very details instructions on how he was able to accomplish this.

If you need equipment from the 2007-2008 TL, there is a guy named martin on ebay, he can get everything for you for a great price including a custom navi harness that is plug and play in addition to what you have. I used his harness and purchased the navi parts on ebay for my conversion and it worked out great.

I lot of research and patience had to go into this project to get all the parts and actually go through with everything. Good luck on your conversion

 

I think that you can do the 07-08 navi, but you will also need to buy a different HFL.. this is what happened to kenny's install that madsiick posted..

I believe that the wire plug is also different on the 07-08 HFL so you will need to get that plug as well and repin all the wires in the HFL.. KennyC could probbaly help with that part.. otherwise all the other install instructions should be the same.
