Need More HP!!!
iTrader: (1)
I cannot get the Navi OK Hack to work!!!
I downloaded and followed all instructions to get Navi401OKa to work.
I have v3.30 and I keep hitting a wall here.
Why is there not a simple way to do the ok hack like changing the .bmp with dumpnavi. really simple there.
When I open the navi401oka, and run it, It says 'select a file to patch'. and whatever I put in, it says NAVI.EXE File Not Found. Please verify the correct file name was given.
What am I doing wrong???? Any help here/
I am using BN2HH12C.BIN (already modified with my new .bmp).
Please help... this is taking me a lot of hours and I know it should only be 15 minutes....

I think you guys need to walk away for a few and then come back and very carefully reread Kennys instructions. It is all spelled out there step by step, with absolutely nothing left out.
In each case you first need to extract a file from the BIN (either HMIManager.exe or navi.exe) and then run the appropriate patch on that file, and then stuff it back into the BIN with dumpnavi, JUST like you did with the image hack.

Bonus Mods (change background colour on map..and make it stay that way)
Hi All,
This is just an extra modification you can do to permamently change the background colour. There was a posting in the TSX forum on how to do this to a TSX but there was one slight problem with the instructions given.
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28607
You need to use a hex editor and the offsets given do not match the TL's file offsets. (20 20 20 comes up many times in the TL's navi and offset info doesn't apply)
I did a little backtracking. extracted the TSX's navi.exe file and found the values needed to be changed. I recorded the extra bytes after it so that when you do a search on the TL's navi.exe file, it only comes up once. So here it is.
Search for the byte string for day or night and replace with values for RGB
To change day:
D2 D2 D0 6E 6E 6E -> ?? ?? ?? 6E 6E 6E
To change night:
20 20 20 3F 3D 3C -> ?? ?? ?? 3F 3D 3C
For example replace 20 20 20 3F 3D 3C with 00 00 00 3F 3D 3C to get TRUE black when you are in night mode.
The the tools mentioned at the start of this thread to make the modifications to the navi.exe file.
Enjoy!
I tested this and it does work. (05 AT TL Canadian verison).

I thought someone could add this to the first post so that we have all the mods in one place.

Do a search for the text string "Loading navigation". It's near the end of the file.
If you remove the text "AD" near the bottom of the screen, the modifiled navi.exe will be stuck in a loop.

PS. Nice to see a fellow Vancouverite here.

(sorry couldn't edit last post, too late)
If you use the hex editor mentioned on the first post, you will be given the option to search for the text but you can select "convert to HEX". This will allow you to search for the text "Loading navication" in HEX which is needed. Remember you have to use the exact same upper or lower case in the text and covert to hext first. Hope this makes sense.
Note:
There's also a URL next to the text "AD". Check it out for more info. I think it was www.vistabugs.com/navi

NAVI ASM Dump
Here is a file generated by The Interactive Disassembler (IDA) of the NAVI.exe, maybe someone will be willing run with it. http://www.savefile.com/files/153023

This thread is a very nice collection of all the info needed to do this, I wasn't really going to hack the navi, but now that the ok button is hacked, and I can add a trip computer, it is becomming very tempting.
I think I have an older 3.30 DVD, would it still all work the same? with the 3.40 hacking tutorials?

Ok, so my noobness tried the first step to getting all three of these navi hack done.
I tried to add a new splash screen, I have version 3.30G DVD, and the BIN files are slightly different, but I still have a total of 9 files.......
I am using the GUI dumpnavi, and it is telling me that my version DVD is not compatible.
The BIN files are as follows......
ADD.BIN
BN2HH12C.BIN
BN2HH110.BIN
BN2HH120.BIN
BN2HHMLD.BIN
BN2HN12B.BIN
BN2HN18B.BIN
zzz10.BIN
zzz100.bin
the new file is one I selected from a thread, and everything is in the same directory, includin g the dumpnavi.exe file.......
Should I even try to do the OK hack and the trip monitor hack? Or do I need a new DVD?
The Loader file is BN2HH12C.BIN according to the diag menu in the navi.

easiest way to do it with CEBin if you don't have 3.4 or 3.5:
put CEBin, the bin file to patch, and the three files you want replaced (back.bmp, navi.exe, hmimanager.exe).
make a text file with the following (replace BN2HH12C if needed, this is for 3.30 fversion)
image BN2HH12C.BIN
replaceFile navi.exe C:\navihack\navi.exe
replaceFile Back.bmp C:\navihack\Back.bmp
replaceFile HMIManager.exe C:\navihack\HMIManager.exe
you have to replace the filenames (C:\ whatever) with your own. Then run CEBin from the command prompt:
cebin yourfile.txt -s tempfile.bin
then rename this file to the original image name, put it with the loader on a disc, and burn away as detailed in the other posts.

hi nice to meet you and maybe we can meet each other someday
anyway i couldnt find any hex editor mentioned in the first post of this thread, unless you mean the XVI32 which was mentioned in the TSX forums
PS.. does anyone have navi.exe from BNHN404A.BIN in which Angrydad mentioned so TC can be enabled in the diag screen

All I can say is if I can do this, ANYONE can! And it worked for me the first time. I now have TC and AD's no-OK hack. Woo-Hoooo! (And, yeah, it has the "AD" but who cares.)
I am the world's worst DOS user and I'll just say some of you guys omitted some steps that are probably so obvious to you that you didn't even think of them, but I pieced it together and got it working. Thanks to kennyc for the trimmed versionof the OK patch, though, because I first got the file too big message before using his 3.40 patch. (And cebin wasn't a working possibility for me.)
If you don't have this working, just read everything VERY carefully and follow the steps and you'll get it.

Hi,
I used Freeware Hex Editor XVI32.
Just copy the text you seen on the boot screen exactly the way it shows up using the correct upper and lower case.
Next press the button that says convert to hex. The text string should convert to hex now and you should find it in the navi.exe code.

I just did this hack on my 3.50 and it works great! And the AD does not bother me either. He will get a donation from me now.
Now I am wondering if we can get a hack similar to work for our RL. 4.31v Silver CD it has.
I did think of something that MIGHT help those who don't like the AD.
What if you just change the color to BLACK instead of removing it? This would make it disappear. Is that even possible? Because on know with a Hex Editor you can change the colors of the MAP. Why not change the AD to black! Someone with more experience in the HEx area can you try this?

One thing to note for people that are changing the text of the warning message, you aren't limited to just replacing the existing text. The strings are null terminated and not a hard coded length, so if you want to make a string longer then what is there now just keep on going (usually into french text) and terminate the string with a hex 00.
I've tested it for all the navi lines and it worked without adverse effects, but for all I know it could cause your car to explode.
The text on the display isn't done in fixed width characters so the max number of characters varies depending on what you put there.

It takes a little work on your part, but all the poop is right here. No one can summarize it all in one post better than keenyc did in the very first post. Do a lot of reading and you'll get it.

This works excellent for those with 3.50 where file is to big.

Also as I mentioned previously you can still customize the second to last line. AD clears that by placing a hex 00 as the first character, but he doesn't check that section of the text so you can change it if you like.
