Dies Irae, look for an email from MattJo3@aol.com -- Note this is for Version 3.5
I will send you the 2 files, Follow the directions below and you will be all set.

1. Burn custom bin (BNHH401a.BIN) and the loader (BN2HHMLD.BIN) onto a blank CD. –THESE ARE THE FILES I WILL EMAIL YOU.
2. Go to your car.
3. Turn your car's ignition to ACC
4. Open the trunk and pop out the NAVI disk (if it's in there)
5. Insert your newly burned CD.
6. Go back to the driver seat, the display will show some dvd read error, now press and hold "GUIDE" "MENU" and "CANCEL" for approx 5 seconds to bring up the diagnostic menu.
7. Wait another 5 seconds to let it load up completely. Press "version" button on the screen
8. Press "LOAD DISC" to load your custom bin into the navigation.
9. Wait until it's completely done and it will then display another error message about can't read the navi dvd, now take out your bin CD and insert your Navigation disc and you are done!

This will give you a new startup background, AC controls, Trip computer, Diag. screen

 

OK, so I have sent the file to a few people already. I hope that once they have it installed they would be happy to share as well.
Also, If anyone has any answers to my question about how to view the startup screen whenever I wanted would be great. thanks

 

I'm one of those people, and it is much appreciated. It worked perfectly to provide a new background, A/C controls, and trip computer - however I still get the OK button on startup. Do you still get that as well?

Unfortunately for me, that was the main thing I've been trying to get rid of. All the other features are added bonus. At this point, I'd pay good money for the files that will eliminate the stupid OK button - anyone????

 

Yeah, I do have that. I actually forgot to do that 'hack' when I made those BIN files. I wont have time this weekend, but my be early next week I will make a new one. If I do I will let you know.

Hey MattJo, can you send me a copy as well. I only want to do the trip computer/ac controls hack. The Ok button doesn't really bother me and I don't mind having it. SlimTl - I tried to email you twice. Problem is that the file is too large for hot mail. I had no problem sending it to Gmail, aol, or verizon accounts. If you set up another email let me know.

I can only say this will work with 3.5. I am not sure what it will do to yours. Could work, could completely f.up your navi. If you want to try I can send it but I am not responsible.
Also, I will be working on the Nag removal tomorrow. I should have it all set, and part of the other BIN files tomorrow night as long as I have time to do it.

Finally, I won the battle with the “stea”lership & Acura and had them replace my navi control unit with 3 years/36K warranty. Not a bad deal. The car (MDX 2007 Sport/Entertainment) came back with the latest version of the white disk 4.81A. I am sure – I tried – that this disk will not copy. What is the highest version number I can apply these modifications to and it will run OK? Some said 4.61, others said 4.62 but I am not sure.

 

Hey MattJo, thanks for the files. I downloaded them, but for some reason nav still can't read the disk. I followed your directions exactly, but no go. My 06 TL navi version is 3.5, fyi. When I opened the disk on my computer, the files open under Adobe. Is that the program that's suppose to run it?

 

No, the files are .BIN files, only way to "read" them is in DOS. Do not try to open with anyother program or you will change it, like Adobe, thus your car cannot read it. Just save the files on you computer --> Burn to disk as is -- > follow instructions and you will be good to go.

not sure if I am gonna mess with the OK nag removal for a while. But if you would like the hack for the rest of it I can sent it. I have sent it to about a dozen people so far.

 

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Everytime I download the files, it saves them as adobe files automatically. Am I missing something?

 

Slim, I have no idea why you are having problems. Only thing I can think of if you tried to 'OPEN' the files, and selected Abode as the defult to open BIN files. I just check the email I sent, and it is correct, I also fwd; the email I sent you to another forum member and they installed it just fine. I will resend it to you now.
DO NOT OPEN THE FILES - Click on them, then CLICK SAVE. thats it. Burn to disk and follow instructions.
If for some reason you computer will only save the .BIN files as adobe now, open them on another computer...

I have a great question! Sometimes when I am updating the Back.bmp to make a new splash for the screen I get the error message that the file Back.bmp is not the same size as the original. When in fact it is exactly the same size. I can update the bin with another image...but it won't allow me to update with new image I just made...whats up with that??? I appreciate the help in advance.

 

After sending the dvd drive unit to Alpine for repairs, now the Version option does not show the bin file. Anyone experience this?

 

I'm not doing this hack until someone finally removes the OK nag button, seriously why would anyone want to keep that? The three copies I have been able to get ahold of all still the OK prompt left on
