Navigation Error
Need help with my navi. Bought it used . Went back to the dealership said they don't fix navi problems because it's not a safety issue. Whatever. So the navi screen all it says is "please check disk". Checked it, looks brand new no scratches at all (but it does say 2002 honda technology some ish like tht) my vehicle is a 04. I took the hard drive out cleaned the lens still get the same navi screen message. I Guees the real question is would a 2002-2003 navi disk be compatible with my 04 acura tl? Other then that idky I'm getting the reading disk error.

No, it will not be compatible. Also, when you said you took out the hard drive and cleaned the lens, you mean you took out the DVD player from the trunk and cleaned the lens with some alcohol and Q-tip right?
I also had disk read errors, i swapped the disk with the one on my friends TL and I had same problem. I took the dvd player from the trunk and cleaned the lens and have not had a single read error since, that was about 2 months ago. If your problem persist, my guess is you have an issue with the player in the trunk. You can either repair it, it take out the disk and use the rest of your entertainment system as usual, thats what I did in the few months before I finally decided to clean the lens

You can either buy the most recent orange disc through Navteq for $99 or get a used disc version-- 3.90 or newer, from Black Market or Ebay-- to load into the drive to see if that resolves the issue.

Yes. The thing in the trunk. I'm pretty comfortable with taking electronics apart, so I did that, cleaned it with a q tip with alcohol

I would take the unit apart and see if it's not a sensor or something similar giving false readings about the lid being open. Happened to my friends TL. In his case since he bough a certified pre-owned vehicle it was covered by warranty

If OP removed the drive and tried cleaning the reader lense already, then the problem is the drive.
If OP has time and can test for faulty parts in the drive, he can disassemble it and replace the faulty parts, per this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-b...errors-873489/.
