Navigation burn-in on screen?

I just picked up a 2005 acura tl w/ navi, loving it so far! However, I bought the car and the navi was missing the maps cd in the trunk. The dealer ordered me a new one, not sure when it will arrive. I'm concerned the screen may burn in the default "please insert disc" since it's been displayed for a week now when I drive. Is this a factor? or are these displays tough enough?

hit setup and then display off or just go to Audio and that'll get it off there.

every command next to the lcd will not respond. The radio works and the other climate buttons work, but nothing navigation related works. I hit the buttons and nothing happens.

When you hit audio it should go to the audio screen. If not, well i'm not certain that's normal.

LCDs do not have "burn in". That's an old CRT thing. Don't worry unless it bothers you.

the audio button does not respond nor any of the other buttons located directly under the screen. Is that normal since there is no data disc?

also, when the navi is up and going will it display the radio and time, etc? or does it still use the console screen for that?

In my TL-S the time/radio display is above the Navi. Also A/C display.

lcd's burn in just like CRT's and plasma. I'm in IT and see burned in lcd's from time to time, not as much as CRT you're right, but they still have the possiblity of burning in.

my question: will the navigation console allow you to do ANYTHING without the CD loaded? I get the vibe that the cd acts as the brains of the navi and without it, its just a screen with nothing behind it.

Yes you do have imageBurn with LCDs. little pixels get stuck on one color and won't switch anymore. I can see the windows logo + start sometimes burned into LCDs if the monitor is old enough and the idiot doesn't let it go to sleep or turn it off at the end of the day.

I'm with vk99x I work in IT, LCDs do burn.

I tried the different commands, but they're all related to phone/handset dialing.

Anyone know the commands to disable the screen?

the dealership told me they would have to disconnect the drive in the trunk.

There's a big difference between monitors that are on 70+ hours a week non-stop and car monitors which are at most on a few hours at a time.

thanks for the information Cochese

When I pull up a list of audible menu options, the only options are available are for dialing and using the bluetooth phone.

Will I need the cd first before I can make any changes to navi via voice?
