Navi voice
ever since i got my tl, i noticed that when the car voice comes on/goes off for the navi, it makes a *POP* noise. everything works perfectly fine, voices are all clear. for example, it would be like *pop* "turn right in 100 ft" *pop*
this didnt happen with the navi on my accord before, so i dont think its normal. i tried googling it and searching on forum but no one seems to have the same issue. what might this be?

Haha, I read *pop* and automatically assumed static as well. I'm not being funny here, but is it more like champagne bottle pop or a 9mm semi-auto pop? It may be a software issue if you only hear this when Navi speaks to you. Have you eliminated the possibility of hardware vs software issue yet?

this is usually the start of the main control unit going bad. the "pop" or scratch sound people usually get are the first signs. i could be wrong, but that is what ive alwasy found to be the case just by doing my research and speaking with other members.
if it is this, you have to send it to alpine and expect to be without it for 2 weeks. $158 flat cost

My navi voice started having the pop issue about a year ago, now the voice is completely gone and only pops and crackles when I try the voice feature. Not really sure what it is. I am not going to replace the whole unit because of this, I was hoping its just a loose connection but I have no idea.

would this be the problem be due to the dvd unit in the trunk? is there anything else in the circuit that controls the navigation voices? I don't mind sending to alpine for $158, but I will mind spending big $$$ on a whole new unit.
i actually had the dvd unit on my 2006 honda accord navi go bad too, it keps getting disc read error, and alpine fixed it for $158.

here you go guys, just recorded it. btw i dont think its the navi unit because i alrdy got a new dvd unit due to it scratching a navi dvd, replaced by acura almost 2 years ago. i recorded it when its at the worst situation, when it displays current location. when using it for directions, it only pops once in beginning and once at end. just a note, i do have a dvd player hooked up with the stock navi, but i dont think that will make a difference.

btw, when the HFL voice talks, there is no issues and sounds perfectly fine. maybe because the HFL voice uses all the speakers as opposed to the navi using only the center.
i do plan on taking it to the dealer eventually. just currently dont have time because of school.

If you have warranty your in luck if you don't your a bit SOL.
You can start with replacing the DVD Disk in your trunk (Navi unit).
If that doesn't fix your issuse you either have the dealership warranty the navi unit-- in the trunk or if you don't have warranty then you can pay to send it out for repair which the dealer would send it to alpine and repair it for 400 or so. New unit will run you 2100, and I know all this because I work for Acura.
Best of luck!
