Navi swap

so i have a 2004 acura tl base. i dont have the navi disk but i dont want to get the disk. so i have a acura tl type s dvd rom from the trunk which has the disk. but doesnt work for my 2004 tl dvd rom. what if i swap the whole entire dvd rom without taking the navi ? would the disk work then ? or would i have to take the head unit frmo the tl s? its a 2007.

How did you get a TL-S dvd navi disk? The TL-S uses a White 4.xx disk while the 2004-2006 TL uses a Orange 3.xx disk. The two are NOT interchangeable.

As far as trying to put an 07-08 DVD drive in your car, you are going to need a new head unit for the audio, navi screen, new wire harnesses, etc. It's not a simple task.

Why don't you want to get a 3.xx disk? You can get an old one on ebay like a 3.8 version or something that's from 2008 for like 40 dollars vs. 185 from acura. Also if you keep an eye out you can get a great deal like acura had the disks for 99 dollars for all model years at the beginning of this year.

Connectors are physically different on the navi display. It is possible the pinouts are the same but no one has taken the time on this site to know for sure.

Martin might know but it would require a one off harness if they did work out to be the same but in a different configuraton.
