Navi screen day/night/auto modes

On my wife's 05 TL with Navi, she had it set for Auto for the screen brightness but even when she turned her lights on, the Navi screen still stayed bright. I checked the settings and she had them set correctly. I played with the settings last night by switching to Night and then back to Auto, it still stayed the same. We parked the car and when we got in later, it started working properly, but it had not worked properly since she got the car. Anyone else seen this problem?

I thought I had the same problem the other night but I adjusted the brightness (which was all the way up) and it worked fine afterwards. The brightness control should be on the same screen as the "Auto/Night/Day" option you're talking about.

If you have it on MAX BRIGHTNESS for the lights (button near the steering wheel) then it will stay in "day" mode all the time (very bright). But if you take it off of MAX brightness it will dim to night mode if you have it on Auto when the lights are turned on . You can still have the brightness all the way up.. but when you turn on the lights it still dims.. unless you have it on MAX. Hope that helps.

The brightness level was Ok, it just wouldn't toggle between Day and Night modes like it should when set to Auto and you turn your lights on.

Ok, I think we might have a winner....I know she was using the Max setting for the dash lights. I didn't realize that affected the Navi as well. I haven't had a chance to read her owner's manual yet since she just got the car last week.

Thanks.

Yes I found that out when I had mine on auto and hit the MAX bright settings for the dash lights. I wish it did not control that because i do liek the bright blue LED's but not the crazy bright screen of NAV .
Glad I could help.
