navi screen in cold weather

Has anyone living in a colder climate noticed on very cold days when you first start the vehicle the navi screen is dim until the vehicle warms up. After a few minutes then the display is fine, but when cold it is quite dull. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem or if it is a problem with the navi screen in my 05 tl with 5000 miles (8000 km) on it.

Yea, I have noticed this on mine as well.... prob because it's liquid crystal and needs to be at a certain temp to be at optimal clarity.

On January 27 I started my car and the MID readout was as displayed below. (The picture was taken after I had driven a short distance, hence the engine temperature being warmed up.) The Navi screen was basically invisible for about 15 minutes until the inside of the car had warmed up a bit.

I have an aftermarket LCD for the carputer, and it is the same way, takes a few minutes to warm up and get the full brightness.

No. Even when it is really cold and the screen is dull, I can easily tap the OK button and it works.

No, but I use the joystick so as not to get fingerprint smudges on the screen, so I wouldn't know anyway.

-8F... now thats colder than a witches titty.... The LCD crystals freeze and are slow to respond when cold.. When the car is warmed up a little it should go back to normal. i try not to touch the screen 2 much... for the "OK" screen i always push in the silver curser button.
