Hi,

My navi's been having a weird problem for a few months now (keeps on rebooting by itself for the first 1-2 hrs); I've been busy with school/exams and there weren't any close dealerships around so I didn't really bother bringing my car in for service (it's a '05 TL fyi, around 67k km...so I guess it's not under warranty anymore). Now that the exams are out of the way, I thougt it's time I do something about it.

I think I should try this method first:

But I have a feeling that I have to replace the whole navi unit or something...in this case, how much would it cost approximately? (I just moved from Toronto to Vancouver yesterday; my car is being shipped on a train and it's still on its way here) a couple of grands I guess?
Too bad it's just 7k km past the warranty

Well...I've got an aftermarket backup camera installed but the navi's been somewhat problematic even before then. But then I don't know what the dealership will say...I've had some bad experiences with Acura service in Ontario :S...ahhh I just wanna get away with it asap

It's been like that even before though...althought it started somewhat faster.
Kinda weird that the problem didn't get this big for like 4-5 months after I installed it.

Ground wires? hmm I'm not really good with these tech stuff well I think I'll bring it in to the dealer, it's not under warranty anymore anyways. Hope they wont take too long...and wonder how much they'll charge me for this ~_~ thanks anyways!

 

try an auto electrical shop for ideas
the dealer guys only know how to replace entire units- could be a bad screen

 

Hmm...ok I think I might as well try Canadian Tire lol.
Also, my one of my front lights (the small orange one at the side) is not working after I got my tranny replaced...might be some connection problem. Should I fix this at those shops too, instead of the dealer? (I didn't have time to go back to my dealer where I got my tranny replaced from) I think the labour rates in Acura dealerships are around $100-110/hr..

 

replace the dead bulb yourself- its very easy
see owner manual for instructions

One simple question...(sorry if I'm asking too much); where would you bring your car in for such a repair(navi), in North America? I mean...what kind of place :S the only places that come to my mind are canadian tire, futureshop (if they ever do that) and?...I don't think there are any radioshacks in canada anymore...
