navi gone crazy
navi gone crazy
wtf?? i was just takin freeway 55 with navi telling me directions, and all of a sudden the navi lady tells me to make a left turn in a half mile. I thought it was kind of weird making a left turn on the freeway, but I have seen offramps on the left hand side. I kept going expecting to see an offramp, but all i saw was the concrete center divider. and then the lady stopped giving me directions.. its not even a new road... has anyone else had this kind of experience?

It (making the left turn on the freeway) might be just a one time fluke.
Repeat the route, and have someone monitor what is displayed on-screen. If it's a map database error (the road is wrong), report it to http://update.navteq.com. But if the nav is showing your car somewhere else, report it to the dealer, and Acura CS.
They usually don't spot widespread problems if people don't report them

^Cool. most exits around here (NY, NJ, CT ) are numbered
In your case, does nav chick say "Exit right" or "take the exit on the right"?
Sorry about all the Q's, just trying to figure out if i'm expecting too much out of the nav or if 3.40A just sucks.

A few times, I've noticed mine do a weird thing:
As I'm heading eastbound 92 on the San Mateo Bridge, the display wigs for a moment just as I reach land in Hayward (near the toll plaza). I keep it at the 1/8 mile zoom and it will suddenly show what looks to be the same view I'll see in a few miles, but just for about a quarter of a second. It's just a blast of a different area and then back to normal.

Cornelius,
I had similar problems in Florida. You can view the thread (flames and all) at https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107907
or just hunt a few pages down for a thread entitled Potentially Dangerous Problem with Navi.
It happened again last week on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island. I need to get to Alpine and see if they can figure it out. Navteq wrote me that their database is ok; Acura is interested but hasn't accomplished anything.
Because the GPS is not all that precise, it's possible that the faulty messages occur as the highway rises slightly above the adjacent streets, and the Navi thinks you're on the street instead of on the highway. I'm going to try to pay more attention to that in the future when (not "if") the problem occurs again.
I hope to post details on the latest events on that other thread. Perhaps you can post a copy of your post there. The more people who provide info about the problems, on a common thread, the more likely someone will come up with a solution.
