Navi Diagnostic Question

i went into the navi diagnostics and i was fiddling around looking at all the cool things that they don't want people to see...only the dealers and i pressed the ECU Status Button and then it said DOWNLOADING SOFTWARE FROM SATELLITES PLEASE DO NOT SHUT ENGINE OFF.... i saw something on here where someone posted something similair asking if its possible to download destination points through the satellites and it was totally flamed for idiocy, but iwas wondering what the navi was downloading, and why can't things be downloaded like this such as upgrades etc..?

These screens are for diagnostic purposes & I would NOT recommend attempting to play with them. I recently worked on an '03 Accord for 2 days to get the navi system working.

I saw the same thing last night, but it didn't say it was downloading from the satellites specifically. I think it just said, "Downloading software. Please do not shut the engine off," or something like that. I assumed it was just reloading the firmware from the DVD-ROM into the navi computer.

I found the trip computer screen interesting while driving (no, I wasn't staring at it while driving ). Of particular interest was the FUP number, which tended to be something like 3.1 ml. I think it was showing milliliters of fuel used per second, as it roughly translates to about 25 MPG at 70 MPH. It's a cool way to find the most economical way of driving.

I also thought it was cool seeing the sun position. I was sitting in my garage last night messing with it and the azimuth(?) was slowly changing to reflect the earth's rotation.
